Hello all, i'm looking for some new manga to read. I found Leviathan, MPD Psycho, Freesia and Homunculus to be very much to my liking. I loved the artwork and the stories, but now i have read them all (all that's out anyway)
So does anyone know of any crazy manga that is like these ones? Also, ultra violent is always a plus
Thanks

If its crazy, as in MPD-crazy, you are looking for, then I can recommend Hellsing. Now Hellsing has a strong fanboy base and a strong enemy base. But consider this as an opinion of someone from between. Hellsing has its black comedy moments which spice up the absurd action/horror genre its representing. Its not really scary but has Vampires with guns, so you should be happy with Hellsing.
As for ultra violence Berserk is a must-read. An epic Dark Fantasy saga about Gutts, the infamous Black Swordsman dealing with unimaginable horrors in a war driven world almsot exactly the same as the Miedeval Europe... only with monsters.

Ichi the Killer, I think it's the perfect thing you're looking for .

Definitally go with this one, as it goes even further than MPD (don't know about Hellsing, as it's tone is more campy than serious).
Jiraishin is a good bet as well. The quality varies from volume to volume, but it's always entertaining.
Gantz is probobly a good bet too. Violent, oddly funny and suprisingly smart.

Then you should love the manga, its one of my personal favorites and by the same mangaka of Homunculus. The manga is a lot more logical and gruesome than the movie, which seemed more like a tribute of some of the best scenes mixed with a bit of Takashi Miike humor.
But in the end, the manga is so much better.

I agree that Ichi the Killer is a good choice. I actually think the manga is pretty funny too at times. It makes the extreme violence bearable.
Another hyperviolent title you may like is The World Is Mine. It's about two serial-killers slaughtering their way towards Tokyo while they're followed by a gigantic bearlike monster. Sounds like Godzilla, eh? So far the plot seems pretty confusing (I've only gotten hold of the French edition), but I've been told it'll make sense eventually. This thing is insanely violent though. You'll have to be utterly desensitized not to be disturbed by it.

Oh and how could I forget. Try and look for Smuggler, by the same guy who did Dead End and deals with the underground Yakuza world of Japan. If you can't find it Tokyopop is going to release it in January where much rejoicing will occur.

While it doesn't exacally belong in the genre of "manga that should/have been directed by Takashi Miike" genre, I'll put in a good word for Believers just cause I love it so. Like some of your favorites, it is quite graphic (like all Naoki Yamamato stories, one fifth of the pages are sex scenes, plus has some brief but disturbing violence). It also has some pretty darly existential themes in it. Other than that, it's quite diffrent. A subtile character drama where thought is usually required to figure the plot out, Beleivers definitally isn't for anyone, especially since it has some pretty surreal storytelling techniques. Behind all the sex and surreality however is a stunning tale of desire, faith and human nature with deep characters and a breathtaking ending. If you want a smart, mature and disturbing read then I can't recommend this one enough.
