The voice acting isn't bad, but the actors are pretty miscast (Yukio in particular - I think I'll warm up to Rin, but it will take time).
But it's not like the Blue Exorcist adaption is any good anyway. I'm sure they'll do a faithful adaption of the manga as soon as it's on its final legs (like FMA), so this series isn't even worth glancing at.

Sounds okay. I could learn to like Rin's and Father Fujimoto's (since he's not in it much) voices, but Yukio's is pretty "meh". Oh well, I was never planning on rewatching the series anyway, so it doesn't really matter to me what the voices sound like.

I like Bryce, but I think Bosch is playing it a little too soft. He kind of makes Yukio sound really weak and frail, and he's anything but that. Too bad I'll most likely never see the whole thing dubbed since watching it once was enough.

Well to be fair that side of yukio isn't really shown off until episode 3 and this was episode 1&2 stuff.
As for sofar, Rin's voice is alright, its just a matter of both getting used to and seeing how he'll sound when he's mad. Father fujiko sounded BAD-ASS, so no qualms there. I'll need to see more of yukio as with rin, but all in all it sounds pretty solid.

I've never seen this show before but was always interested in it. The only thing that took me away from it was that I didn't know if it had comedy in it. I don't watch a show without comedy in it.
So does anyone who watched this show know if it has comedy in it, if so how much comedy's in it?

I know the manga's definitely got a good helping of comedy. Never watched the anime, but I don't see any reason it would have cut that element out.

Oh trust me there is a nice amount. I can't say its even but its there and it is pretty funny. just don't expect gintama-ish humor and more light hearted type of humor. *Well most of the time, I swear I remember someone getting hit in the nuts once... or maybe that was some other anime?*
Well, yeah there is humor. I know how it is to not want something too serious, really some of these "must see masterpieces" are friggin depressing

It's basically like the typical shonen. It has some jokes thrown in every once in awhile, but comedy is not the main objective.

My friend's going to be happy she didn't end up buying the sub-only DVDs since she was holding out for a dub.
Then she's going to hear it and be kind of sad. Maybe it was just the clips they used in this preview, but I wonder if Bryce Papenbrook will capture Rin's adolescent snarkiness or just sound brooding/angry whenever he isn't being a nice guy? To be clear, it's not that I don't think Bryce can do it, I just think that would be one of the biggest pitfalls of playing the character. That being said, no offense to the voice actor, but when I think of who could best play a restrained, passive aggressive character like Yukio, Johnny Young Bosch isn't exactly the first performer to come to mind; maybe he'll draw on the better aspects of his work as Lelouche...which may or may not help? But he still sounds...off to me.
Overall, though, it seems like this dub is kind of an afterthought to Aniplex. Which is weird, because they're really playing up the series itself, or that was the impression I got from all of the BLUE EXORCIST stuff concentrated around their booth at animexpo. Maybe Aniplex is too clever for me and I will simply never understand their business model. O:

So much pessimism. The dub's about what you would expect. I don't think it's bad, even if it's not exactly gold. Plus, there's always room for improvement as it progresses.

Am I missing something here? The dub sounds just fine.

eeeh, I can't watch this TT^TT. I mean, Rin's original voice is so amazing, it's my favourite anime characters voice, so no dub can beat that.
Also even though I'm a Johnny Yong Bosch fan, he just does not fit Yukio at all -_______-. It totally feels like someone recorded lines over his voice, not that he's actually talking :/ meh, the manga is way better anyway.

I was just hoping it has One Piece kind of humor, u know like a regular shonen series has. If u say it has enough to keep me by then I think I'll give this a chance then. I already know the action and animation looks downright epic.

I don't think I got past eps #7-8? of the Sub- I always figured the Dub would be a good place to revisit it. Sounds decent - No Idea what Neon Ally is but if it steals more decent titles from FUNImation - I'm done for it.
