In the only reason the Japanese government doesn't subsidize anime is that anime is well-funded enough? Would anime be better of if it was subsidized?

Anime's doing just fine in Japan. Of course anime would be better if the government gave money to it, but so would anything else.

I have to agree with Pants Goblin. I mean anything always benifits from more money, but the anime industry isn't lacking at all. I mean its like the US subsizdizing the movie industry. I mean the quality would be so so much better on some of the movies, but with the amount of money they make its not needed. Now I am not saying that anime has the income that the Movie industry does back here in the states but it is holding its own. Espically with all the fans of anime all over the world.

Well perhaps the gov't will fund anime once they strike a deal with them so that anime makers will plant some sort of mind control devices in the anime that activate when you watch it. BELIEVE IT.

Oh god, it seems they've already started. :P

It's a joke about the japanese gov't and how they controll the way their people think. If you watch south park you would also have an idea.

I hate doing this do i really need to tell you what the joke means Amada?

I don't watch South Park, so I wouldn't know. I thought he was just crazy.

No, there is a meaning to his joke, he just has bad punctuation so he ruined it.

I don't watch Crap Park, either, so of course I'm not gonna understand this thing.

Ohh yea, i forgot you're anti-american cartoons. I don't suggest you constantly insult things you don't like, not only does it give you a bad name but it may also get you in alot of trouble one day.
And the joke didn't really come from south park, it was just some-what used in an episode, so you don't need to watch south park to understand it, you just need to know a bit about current affairs Cool (or whatever you want to call it).

Way to go off-topic bickering about not getting a very poorly-referenced South Park gag and having biases against non-Japanese animation. I never knew how crucial those points were to the subject of government funding for Japanese cartoons.

Locked.
