Even the song..forget what it's called but the lyrics is I don't feel a thing and I've stop remembering Days are just like moments Tuned out mother used to say if you want you'll fined a way but mother never.....yadayada yada Was that in Japan or was that American? And if it was in Japan do they sing in English alot for anime? Also if it was in Japan wouldn't it cost a quite a bit on get the licenses for the music? |

That song, entitled "Rain," exists as two versions, actually. The one sung by Steve Conte on OST 1, and the one sung by Mai Yamane, which is the version which appears in the show and also shows up on the Soundtrack Box Set and Future Blues CD. Mai Yamane is Japanese and Steve Conte is an American musician, but they both performed the same lyrics. The nationality of either of these singers is irrelevant, however, as the song was composed and arranged by the music guru Yoko Kanno, a name I assumed was common knowledge in anime fandom. She has proved time and time again her ability to write in a variety of music styles, including jazz, rock, classical, electronic, opera, Brazillian, and everything in-between. Many consider her musical score for Cowboy Bebop to be her best work. It's not uncommon for a Kanno OST to have little to no Japanese lyrics at all. The first Wolf's Rain OST, for example, contains lyrics in French, English, and something that sounds Portuguese-inspired(?), but no Japanese. |

OH ok. Thanks for the information the singer did a very good job on it that even tricked me thinking it was an american singing on that episode though it's been a while since I seen that episode. |

Yup, Ms. Yamane's powerful, sultry voice has no trace of an accent when she sings in English. She's belted out tunes that make her sound like an old blues legend (ie "Blue," "Don't Bother None," and "Gotta Knock a Little Harder"). |

Valse de la lune = french Stray, could you bite the hand, run wolf warrior,run, gravity = English Coracao Selvegem = portugese that is all the songs from wolf's rain OST 1, i dunno about OST 2, but i remember they had one japanse song, Cloud 9. Steve Conte is employed by yoko kanno i think, he's in many yoko kanno songs. i also noticed a trend for japanese singers singing full english songs. i prefer if they sing in japanese, sometimes engrish is annoying.. (like Through the years and far away from hoshi no koe by Tenmon, it would sound much more natural if it were in japanese...) |

I liked hearing Juno Reactor's "Guardian Angel" as the opening for Tehxnolyze, it's an awesome song, not sure if they're American though. Sometimes random "Engrish" in the show can destroy the mood the show has going though. For those of us who speak the language it's just rather ammusing nonsense. Then again sometimes it works. *shrugs*

I'm mixed with this. Like many of you, I say it needs to fit the style or period of the Anime. I'd rather not here too much popular music though in one jumble mess. (Ex. Smash Mouth Beyonce, Green Day, Will Smith etc. just to name a few) More of what I would want is a more full orchestral soundtrack to it.
(John Willams, Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, Alan Silvestri, James Newton Howard, to name a few) Though I really do like the OS of Yuki Kajiura. She always does really fine ethnic blends of classical, J-Pop, and opera. I just really want an equal and fair blend of music. Not so much that it sticks out like a sore thumb. Know what I mean

I'm not sure what is meant by American music. Do you mean stuff sung by an American Artist?
Anyway, I like music when it's used appropriately. I like seeing anime become international, and seeing music from placs other than Japan is really great especially Yoko Kanno's stuff. Yuki Kajiura's music is also nice, and some of the chanting, dark, and brooding type of music theme fits well in the anime.

i do know that .hack songs are sung in english, and yes i meant noir (i also meant tsubasa) agh. i should've mentioned the titles. |

She rocks. I have a list of personal fav. Composers (because I'm a soundtrack freak) and she tops the list at the top 5. I love her work from .hack//SIGN, and MADLAX, and her album FICTION which features various works from her, is wonderful. She really has that amazing motiffe to blend, various genres, like Opera (salva nos) J-Pop (Key of the Twilight) and Classical (Kiss) And speaking of MADLAX, there is this song that sounds like a Waltz. I love her work |

i'm not the first to mention ParaKiss...oh well. I quite liked Franz Ferdinand in ParaKiss. I think the 'high-fashion' feel of the song fits the show, as it's about fashion...and the ending animation is hilarious!

I don't really care where the music comes from as long as it fits with the series. I like the choice of "Do You Want To?" (Franz Ferdinand) as the closing theme of Paradise Kiss; the way it plays while Yukari is narrating near the end of the episodes in a unique effect that I haven't seen very much in anime. The song doesn't fit well with the main character of the show, although I think parts of the song fit with George's character. Ultimately I liked it as a choice for the ending theme.
