To sum it up, if you have one of the listed newspapers (or others), you'll see one of those OEL (Original English Language manga) in the comics section with Garfield and the rest.

That's pretty interesting. Now I haven't read either of those titles, but my question is how they will fit in a newspaper's comics section, because those are usually laid out for horizontal strips. Plus, the comics pages have been constantly shrinking.

Perhaps as Sunday-only supplements, like Prince Valiant? |

Congratulations to the artists. Once you get into UPI, you're set for life.

So it'd be like a page a week or day or something?
That's so...boring...Can you even split up manga in such a way that it'd still be coherent? I don't know that Peach Fuzz and Van Von Hunter had the cliffhanger on each page to make that work. And what about 2 page spreads? Whatever happens, I'm not expecting much, unless they can put whole chapters into the paper. Which is probably not possible. |

Can someone give a direct link to this? I've been searching that AP site and I can't find anything about it on it.

Funny how Van Von Hunter lost the first Rising Stars Contest, yet that seems to be getting all the press. (Peach Fuzz won year 2)
I believe Von Hunter was webcomicish in its beginnings, so its not like anything's going to change... |

Go to AP, type "manga" into the search box, it's the top result. -t |

I think there's more information here:
Stu Levy is becoming the Bill Gates of Manga in America! ![]() |

Almost even looks like Mr. Microsoft in that article picture. However, this little tidbit interested me: "Levy is now working on a musical film based on manga." Um...yeah. |

BTW, Aaron McGruder should be the one getting the due for establishing the trend of manga-style comic strips in American newspapers. Although he's admitted he hasn't succeeded at getting young people and/or minorities to read the paper. Anyway...
