It's Cilan. Now I'm imagining a Cylon roaming the Pokemon world, speaking with food analogies...

Uh... Have you seen both movies? There are quite a few differences earlier in the movie as well. The openings of each film are different, as well as other notable differences, such as Carlita's Hydreigon's and Juanita's Golurk's shiny status. Majority of differences? Maybe. But "sole differences"? Not by a long shot.

Bulbapedia has a brief overview of changes here.

It's also of note, that in the Japanese version, there are actually two different ending themes, rather than two versions of the same song.

I can't stand Iris and Cilian. At least Dawn and May were likable. Heck, I didn't even mind Max as much... or Tracey. Brock and Misty are the classics, but I didn't mind the other guys. Iris and Cilian just don't have any redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Strangely enough, I have. I'll give you that "sole" wasn't the best word choice, but most of the differences were, I felt, negligible and did not add to the experience of watching them both. If you disagree, I apologize.

I actually really thought about mentioning this, but since there was no Japanese track provided, I decided against it.

Something as good as Ruler of Illusions: Zoroark was followed up by these... Hell, even the original Japanese versions were terrible. I'm hoping they never do two movies again... Seems to me they had the same budget they always do for just one movie and was divided in half for these two.

Uh oh, am I showing my age? Other than the names "Ash" and "Pikachu" I did not recognize ANY of the companions. I didn't watch past the point when Misty left, but just from being on the internet, I know who a majority of Ash's companions are. But these two? I have NEVER heard of them. Shocked

I have now drawn an uncomfortable comparison between Ash and The Doctor. Actors may change, companions may change, but Ash is immortal.

I feel yea man, I haven't watched Pokemn since the end of the Johto Stuff. I don't recognize most of the monsters & characters anymore. Although I do feel sorry for Ash being eternally a tween. As a kid I always thought he'd grow up, marry Misty and become a master. But nope. He & Pikachu are forever Nintendo's animated slaves, lol.

Dent is hilarious and his flamboyant blatantly-gay euphemisms and attitude and speech quirks more than make him welcome as a regular cast member.

Funny for a child, perhaps. As an adult, I get annoyed by overly in-your-face people.

Iris is as much of a child as she declares Satoshi to be.

While I can't say that this is one of the better Pokemon movies, I will say that I was pleasantly surprised by it.

Honestly, I expected it to bore me to tears, like recent BW episodes have been (Cilan is the only redeeming quality), but it was entertaining enough.

However, the Zoroark movie before it was much better, and none of them hold a candle to my absolute favorite, "Lucario and the Mystery of Mew."

You know, after the last movie, I sort of just skipped this one, glad to know there wasn't really anything to miss. Maybe if I'm bored enough I'd watch white to see zekrom in action buuut.... yeah...

I used to just watch the films for the heck of it as I do like the artwork, but now I sort of just stopped.

You see, I don't like characters like that (assuming "Dent" is the same as Cilian). Give me Brock any day of the week (though like I said, Tracey was fine too). I just can't find enough redeeming qualities in Cilian to make me care about him.

Which is why otakus, and pokemaniacs like myself have been screaming for years that they should be doing releases that have the original japaneese scripts. ( though they definitely can leave the english names of the pokemon intact to avoid confusion )

Unfortunately there's no way nintendo and game freak is gonna allow that.

Either way it does have it's flaws, but not big enough to be one of those " avoid at all costs " releases. It's still a decent movie to introduce little children into the world of anime. Though it's mainly for die hard pokemanicas, and since I'm one I'm defintely adding it to my shelf.

"Two different ending themes" is one hell of a stretch, they're the same song with different lyrics for the main verses (the refrain is the same). The dub endings are arguably more different, since they have completely different singers for them.

Not that I give a flying whoop about this franchise anymore, but why don't they offer the Japanese audio too? Believe it or not, there are some young Pokemon fans out there who watch the Japanese version with subs. I know they're not an overwhelming majority, but they do exist.
