Dawn fans will be all over this. I like Dawn, but hope they tone down Piplup. I do wonder how this will all go down.

Whoa! So wait, are these characters going to be appearing in the games? Or is this just talking about the anime?
If it is the games, I just got super excited. I love when games reach into their backstory to provide more continuity.

Shirona AND Hikari? C'mon now, it's like they're completely aware of that popular otaku pairing between them or something. Oh wait, they are.
Also, guess it's time for Sakaki to finally make his move in Isshu.
I guess we'll be getting Cheren in the anime after all if he's going to be the Normal-type Gym Leader. Wonder if Bel still knows him in the anime.

So far, these returning characters will be in the Pokemon World Tournament of the new games. No announcement has been made about whether all of them will also be in the new anime season.

There's an error in the article. It's BROCK (Takeshi), not ASH (Satoshi) who will be returning in the games. Fix it please

Giovanni is confirmed for the anime, but old gym leaders and champions have been confirmed for the games.

I really doubt Anime Sakaki would take part in a silly fanservice tournament for no real reason.
Unless they make a non-canon OVA or something.

So then if Giovani is returning, this means he didn't commit suicide upon disappearing? So much for that theory!

That suicide thing was fan made speculation. With the circumstances of how that came about, I can see it having some weight around it. I just wonder if this World Tournament in the games will come wi♦th story or its just "there" for gameplay purposes.

I wouldn't say so. Just as they made Juan the Sootopolis City Gym Leader for the anime, they could very well keep Lenora in her current position. It wouldn't make sense to bring a character like Cheren, one who has such development in the games and may likely experience further development with Black 2 and White 2 into the mix for one-three episodes for a gym battle that Satoshi doesn't even need to have (...He already has the Basic Badge). It made sense back in Advanced to have Juan be the Sootopolis City Gym Leader, because he had just as much development in the games, and as it turned out, as he ended up having in the anime (...It's not saying much that he won a Ribbon Cup, a filler element for contests in the anime just to make them more interesting.) -- little. It wouldn't look good for the anime when compared to the games, is my point.

Well I imagine they're going to do something similar to what they did in Battle Frontier, where Satoshi has to go around and collect 8 more badges. So since there's entirely new Gym Leaders, it'd make sense for them to do that. He already has 7 out of 8. They have to do something for B&W2 since the anime is about to finish it's first arc.
And while it may not officially start until the 21st, the upcoming episode "Movie Showdown! Sortie, the Isshu Defense Group!" is already showing signs of B&W2. Satoshi arrives in a port city, just like the start of B&W2 is supposed to take place in, and it features a giant mecha Bangiras. Just like these screenshots show, as well as the whole 'making movies' feature you can do in the PokéWood feature of the game. So they're already putting in B&W2 elements as early as that episode, even if it doesn't officially start until the 21st.
I've always liked how far in advance the anime writers are told these things, and if you pay close enough attention you can find them.
It's probably why we never got the Sinnou Battle Frontier.. they knew Cattleya would be a Heavenly King in the Isshu region, and trying to explain how she went from Frontier Brain to Heavenly King would be weird since the games had a time-skip and she's older.
And that's also why they introduced Luke near the beginning of the Best Wishes series; they knew the movie-making feature would be a part of the games so they made a character who aspires to become the best Pokemon Film director to feature those elements later on.

Uhh... An HGSS event already confirmed that as false and confirmed Silver as his son.

Wasn't that same event in GS, just never released in the West? I think the consensus is that the event was there, but it never directly confirmed anything about their actual relationship. The manga did, though. And then, during an exclusive FRLG event, it was mentioned that Sakaki/Giovanni had a red-haired son, and it was finally confirmed with the re-written Celebi event in HGSS.
