Well, my feelings are a bit mixed for this series. The final two episode did pull off quite a comeback to enhance Miketsukami's character. As for the plot, I also kinda gave up on focusing it also and rather just concentrated on the characters and their contrasting personalities.
Overall, I thought series was alright although not something considered a masterpiece or something to remember by for a long time. Still though, I won't forget those cute little poses that Miketsukami does 24/7 or Nobara Yukinokouji's yuri tangling senses

The final two episodes bumped my final score of the show up a full letter grade from a C to a B. (And even that C, I felt, was being generous.) But it really does make the whole experience a bit difficult to quantify. I'd have trouble recommending the show to anyone because it's simply too fluffy and pointless overall, and yet, if I could somehow be assured that there was to be more like the final two episodes to come, I'd totally be on board with a season 2.

Well, i for one enjoyed this series for its 'pointlessness', quirky characters and silly humour, so being hit with the melodrama hammer in the end felt a bit out of place...but all in all it was an entertaining show, nothing outstanding but nice enough.

Yes. They do. I'm not even a huge fan of the central relationship, and I think they do. Not that fluff for the sake of fluff really needs to be justified, in my view. I would have been fine if the show had continued in its fluffy, mildly amusing way till the very end. But as it stands, it injected plot and drama in a brilliant way, unlike so many other shows that suddenly go "OH SHIT! Last two episodes, time for PLOOOOT!" |

The anime was very lovely, one of the best of its season. The atmosphere, the animation, its great seiyuu cast and the music (I liked all of the endings) were all great.
Soushi's past was handled way better in the anime thanks to both music and seiyuus But, as a manga reader, I want to say a couple of things regarding the adaptation into anime since I didn't like the minor changes: The anime only animated the first 9 chapters and part of chapter 10 in a 1:1 pace, so we had a couple of filler episodes like the one where a yokai invades the mansion and they are trapped in the rooms because of the security system. Some scenes were from future chapters, like the last scene of episode 12 where Soushi tells Ririchiyo that he wants a family. Also in episode 12 they rushed during the scenes which appeared while the ending was playing. Kagerou was introduced earlier without a proper reason (in the manga he was first introduced at the moment he made his second appearance in the anime, so episode 10 should've been his first appearance). Also, the part of episode 9 where he makes a prank of putting notes in the door with commands happened later in the manga and makes more sense if it happens later since he wrote those notes to show that he improved his calligraphy after Ririchiyo knew in the elevator scene of episode 11 that his calligraphy was very bad. In the anime you were left wondering, before the audience knowing that he wasn't the one writing the letter you asked yourself why didn't Ririchiyo recognise his calligraphy and after knowing that Soushi wrote the letters for Riri you ask yourself how did Kagerou write so good when doing the prank (and it didn't seem like he received any help, although you could argue that Zange or someone working for Kagerou helped him but in the manga he did it alone). Another thing to take into account: in the manga, the first 14 chapters are some sort of introduction of the characters (although the anime only showed the chapters which explored Ririchiyo and Miketsukami, which is a shame because in my opinion the Watanuki-Karuta's chapters and relationship are better). At chapter 15 the tone of the series starts to change with unexpected plot twist and new characters that are important to the plot appear, its climax reaching at chapter 18 (where it says at the end of the chapter: Inu x Boku SS end of the Prologue) and from 19 onwards the manga makes a 180º change with the real main story. Since it looks like the anime has been more or less successful in Japan, I hope we can get a second season because the series improves and little by little we start to get hints of a serious plot. |

The series went downhill after Episode 6. There was nothing it could do to top the Karuta episode/ED.
Still, it was a solid series. A bit too much fujoshi pandering for my liking, and Ririchiyos voice sounded off (I kept on expecting Rie since she fit her typecasting perfectly), but it was an enjoyable watch. |

Episodes 11 and 12 saved my opinion of this show. I wanted to drop it a few times, and in the end I am actually happy I stuck with it. I first I thought mitsukami was parody and richio was adorable and an amazing character. I really really want to make this tv series into an EDITED movie. that way almost all the fluff can get left out of the story like it should have been in the first place.

Its not a bad thing, its just something that I'm not interested in so it lessens my enjoyment of a series. I don't have a problem if someone likes it though. |

I think I share Fencedude's confusion...
But that aside, I actually kind of respect this show's fanserve - bizarre as that may sound - just because of how equal opportunity it is. I don't know that I've ever seen a show so consistently pander to both its male and female audience in such equal strides. If you happen to have a thing for cute or sexy anime characters, regardless of your gender or orientation, this show's probably something for you. That's not really the kind of thing that hooks me into a show, but I can appreciate how well it was done. |

Ignoring that, as Furudanuki mentions, Coco Fujiwara is female, it still doesn't make any sense. |
