Another winds up on my short list of anime that needs a fan edit to be more watchable by Americans (along with Steamboy and One Piece).

So this is the list to be watchable by Americans, rather than watchable in general? Because it certainly feels like a new title is being added almost every week. Not that there hasn't been a decent influx of re-/releases of One Piece this year, but still, it seems easier than qualitatively-quantifying "short."

To be "short listed" is an expression. It means from a longer possible list of candidates, there's a shorter list of more likely candidates.

Interesting stuff there...love the School Rumble collection, FMA, Soul Eater manga, and some of the other stuff.

Also, lol'd @ the meme for Another.

Relatively small collection but all quality stuff. I loved the SCHOOL RUMBLE collection too; I'm still mad about the manga being cancelled, it was one of my favorites. And the Led Zep poster is way cool. I never accidently bought multiple copies of DVDs, but it's happened to me before with manga, namely ZETSUBOU SENSEI and GANTZ--because the covers are all so samey-looking whenever I see a new volume out I'm never exactly sure if I already have it or not.

Thanks, the collection has grown since I took that picture. In addition to my squid girl figure, I have manga volumes 1-10 of Bakuman, volumes 1-3 of Toradora (soon to be 1-4). For anime I gained, Princess Jellyfish, Maidsama, Fairy Tail volumes 1-4. Lastly for videogames, Tales of Graces F, Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice, Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor 2.

Yea it's quite a bit since then, but then again I had my first, 21st annual birthday last month so...yea.

I'd say I like Fairy Tail, but I love Naruto better. I'm not sure I understand what Erin's problem is with the rest of Naruto, but hey she was singing the praises of that awful crap Yamada's First Time, which seems even worse than the worst Naruto filler episode.

At least we can both agree that Naruto is better than Fairy Tail.

As I said in another post, I like my porn hard and explicit.... I have nothing but contempt for shows that tease and are nothing more than thinly-veiled soft-core porn (Yamada not so much as others, but still). I hate soft-core porn.

I also hate soft-core porn. I didn't take Yamada as any kind of porn, so much as the intention seemed to be comedy and not titillation.

Newer shows like the Big Bang Theory makes the Simpsons less entertaining.

Obviously wrong.

This is more of a comment on how far the Simpsons have declined than the overall quality of these shows in their peak years. Prime Simpsons is one of the greatest TV sitcoms in American history. Big Bang Theory is a fine sitcom and is considerably more entertaining than current Simpsons, but match these shows up in their primes, and it doesn't really compare. Post season 10 Simpsons, well...

Actually, it's amazing that the longer the Simpsons runs, the smaller its actual prime years seems to be. We're talking almost half the series now being average to bad.

I think better horror comes from contrast, like it'd be more shocking if creepy things were happening in a cheerful and clean hospital, or on a sunny day.

Besides The Wicker Man, does anyone know of any movie/show that successfully does this?

Nice Zep poster by the way. I've got the same one.

I think the hospital in The Exorcist was pretty clean and modern. That whole hour of medical tests really adds to the horror of later scenes. Also, in The Omen (1976) when the nurse says "It's all for you, Damien!" I seem to remember it being a pretty nice day outside.

I think Picnic at Hanging Rock was all sunshine all the time.

By the way, Heavenly Creatures is a totally awesome earlier Peter Jackson film if you like horror/suspense and have never seen it.
