I remember his stories from the 1970s, when I read the National Lampoon. Although I was not a fan of his art, it was unique. And I was always interested in seeing what he was drawing. The comic world has lost a legend, may he rest in piece and condolences to his family.

I was about to do a presentation on this man for my high school French project last, but ended up running out of time and doing a presentation on "Rose of Versailles" instead. In retrospect, I wish I had stuck with my original choice. Back in Middle School, I discovered this fantastic artist in the discount pile of a local comic shop, and was instantly impressed by his unique art style. A few years later, I became reaquainted with him through both "Heavy Metal" and a chapter on him in the excellent manga "Kingyo Used Book."
One of my favorite artists, and biggest artistic influences, has left this world. It is truly a sad day for the artistic community, as I'm actually holding back tears while writing this. Rest in peace, Moebius. |

A sad day for the comics world. RIP.
I've had a Death poster from one of his paintings for well over 10 years, I still love that poster. |

Aww man, this is horrible. Without Moebius, sci-fi would not be where it is today.

Off the the Airtight Garage in the sky. He'll be missed.
For an anime connection (as if one were necessary), the website for the Parisian Miyazaki/Moebius joint exhibition: http://miyazaki-moebius.com/ An homage by Miyazaki: http://www.zewebanim.com/images/arzach-miyazakigf.png And the favor returned: http://totumblro.tumblr.com/post/8779981338/from-miyazaki-moebius-exhibition-catalogue |

I remember reading his stuff from Heavy Metal. I have a few of his graphic novels. He had a very unique style.

R.I.P. Frenchy. Great artists are really the eccentric ones.

Santa Inoue and the Togari guy were also mourning Moebius. He really impacted a lot of people, it seems.

I haven't read any of his comics, but I've seen a few films he's been involved with (Alien, Tron, Willow, The Abyss, The Fifth Element, for example). There's a great biographical documentary I've seen a few times that pops up once in a while (on the Space and Bravo! channels in Canada) called Moebius Redux. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about Jean Giraud.
