Fandom Post noted noted how this survey (and Japanese fandom in general) skews towards more recent shows; the only really old one on this list would seem to be Eva.

The other thing that's interesting is figuring out what shows aren't on the list. Notice for example that the Key/VisualArts "holy trinity" of Air, Kanon, and Clannad are absent, even though they're fairly recent (Clannad After Story was 2009, IIRC). Given the sheer iridescent hatred for the moé genre among certain of the North American fandom (hi Zac!), these would surely rank as highly overrated in an equivalent poll here.

Evangelion would be number one without contest. People just love to hate that series. I'd suspect Gundam Wing and Cowboy Bebop would also make appearances, or pretty much any Adult Swim/Toonami series. If it's popular it will receive more criticism and ire.

IMHO there's nothing strange about listing new positions- in this fandom fans of oldies are minority. So older series are usually disputed among relatively small threads and communities, usually in calmer manner than new genius anime of the season.

K-ON should be #1 in my opinion. I really don't get the fuss over it. I tried watching the anime, but I can't even finish 3-4 episodes of it. It makes me cringe, and I don't even know why.

Either way, I shouldn't be taking this too seriously.

The upside is whoever has the license might decide that AnoHana's moment has passed and then drop the price they're asking to license it. I'm starting to fear that we're never going to get a region 1 AnoHana release.

Why is Madoka the most overrated, it was the best anime I've watched on that poll in my opinion. It makes me sad that it was first on the poll. Infinite Stratos seemed the most overrated in terms of harem anime go, mostly due to the fact that the main dude just gets me so mad.

being meguca is suffering...

Edit: In my opinion, I agree, it was overrated. I did like the twists it had, but that's its only saving grace when I watched it. Well, that and I got to see Kalafina just a few months later.

I do not think anyone takes these list seriously. Having finished IS yesterday I will agree that it is overrated. It is not that good of a series at all. It is not terrible but it was too short for its own good.

A series can be good or great and still be overrated.

So 1409 women should just go back to the kitchen cause Madoka not only deserves the fandom it gets, but I like to see much more.

I'm not even sad/mad it has an "loli-otaku"-base. It deserves ALL of the love and if these little Biglobe punks can't see that.......well what do I care. >_>



(Sorry, momentum craze there. Fans should always speak their mind even if squidwards like me don't agree.)
