Ok so, did Aniplex ever say anything about Angel Beats? I have been patiently waiting for so long lol. I just really want a second season like they said they were gonna do... but I haven't seen any development in it or even any chatter about the possibility of the second season... Its like they discarded the idea... is it true? Cause I really think I will cry if it is true...
[EDIT: Made your thread more specific to the anime title in question. -TK]

Welcome to ANN and all that jazz.
You're probably better off whacking this in the 'General questions' thread at the top, threads like this don't usually last very long.
I will, however, bite this once since your question has me curious. I don't really keep abreast of anime news that much so I hadn't heard anything about a second season of Angel Beats!. It strikes me as odd though, since the story was pretty much wrapped up as far as I can remember? I don't think they left themselves many avenues for exploration with the story, and they'd have to what, use the same world and premise with a whole new cast? I don't think even Key are that conceited.
Eh, now I'm going to have to research this 'second season' of yours, dammit.

well as for the second season, they kinda left open a space to make a new season. I saw that they planned to make a new season but then i never saw anything again, i loved angel beats so i was hoping for a new season but i guess ill live if they dont do it

What I heard from other fans is that Key's original plan with this series was to do a 26 episodes story, but for reasons I dont know they had to cut it to fit into 13 eps, instead.
Also, Key's writer always ended up making scripts much longer than what you could comfortably animate within your regular ep lenght, cuts and changes must have been made a thousand times.
So, in the end I think it was more of a traumatic than a pleasant experience for the whole staff, and knowing the story pretty much concluded in the last episode...that'd be all of Angel Beats (as an anime form) for now.

Wait. What the hell?
Perhaps you need a refresher viewing because the end of the first season pretty much kills off any potential for a second season.
Unless you're one of those who wants to see the series go in a direction which takes it from Angel Beats to "Tired relationship story we've seen 149,489,823 times before" and completely changes what made the series unique?
Goodness, let's hope this isn't what you want.

re: MesonoxianEve
If you watch the two and a half minute bonus mini, Another Epilogue, it opens it back up for a continuation if they so desire. Many fans that I've talked to really don't like this open ending, but it is out there if you want to see it.
It's not so much an alternate ending as it is additional material. Remember that the world Angel Beats inhabits exists outside of the normal flow of time.

We'd need a second season to re-do the third act of the anime into a proper narrative that develops each of the SSS members.

How many ways can you cover kids dying? It's sad and unfair, we get it. The whole series had a definite flawed premise which I believe the producers realized at some point and as such, they cut the series short. I think the term here is "mercy kill".

There's already plenty of material for more, but I don't think it'll ever happen. I recommend reading the Track Zero light novel or a manga adaptation of said novel (if there is one?) It provides some really good background to how the Afterlife Battlefront was formed and why they started to target Angel.

I highly doubt we'll ever get a season 2 of Angel Beats! although it was voted #1 as the "sequel we most want" by Japanese fans in a recent CR news.
Hmm, if there's any hope for another season, it might be an anime series based on the light novel: Angel Beats! Track Zero, a prequel of the series although it wouldn't be near as good as the original imo.
So my thought would be to warp the whole series up with a big screen movie or maybe an OVA. I did like the ending of the original series thou so I'm happy with it

Just to be sure we're on the same page, my "149,489,823 times" comment was based on the scene where the anime closes with the two seeing each other in another life, which is something I feel takes away from the Angel Beats purpose.
If they continue, then it should be "Human Beats".

I did know exactly what you were referring to. I'm saying that in Another Epilogue we see that Otonashi has stayed in purgatory/whatever by himself and has become student council president, taking over the job that Kanade had been trying to do but was failing at for so long. The story could be continued from that point with mostly new characters in the same setting. Maybe this time instead of forming a battlefront they'll take it a different direction. It doesn't have to turn into "Angel Beats After Story".
