No, Crunchycrap does not have Conan, and I hope they never get their grubby hands on my all-time favorite series.

I'll definitely be going to see this movie in the theaters when it comes out in April.

On the flip side, I hope Crunchyroll does get Conan someday so I can actually watch it again. This trailer brought a simile to my face... been way too long since I watched new Conan footage.

Crunchy doesn't seem to like to get series that they can't get the full series to, and since Funi holds the license to the first 123 episodes (by the Japanese count), I doubt they'll want/be able to get the other 523 episodes.

Besides...
1) It's a long running series with relatively few fans outside of Japan.
2) Even fewer of those fans are English-speaking, Crunchy's audience.
3) It's already been proven that those few English-speaking fans haven't been interested in buying the series, which is why Funi stopped working on the TV series. So it's unlikely that someone else would want to license it only to see the same thing happen.

If you are that opposed to watching the unlicensed part of the series through fansubs (why?), then that's your problem. As a member of one of the two active English Conan subbing groups, I can tell you that the subs are professional-level quality, and that you're missing out on a great show and several great movies by skipping them.

It's pretty popular actually. It's just the US it kind bombed in; similar to Saint Seiya. When I went to the Conan Museum in Japan, they had a little chart which shows all the countries it's localized in. Pretty neat

On the one hand, it must've been popular enough in order to be localized in many countries (though how faithful to the original?). On the other hand, just because it's been localized doesn't necessarily mean it's popular there - though if hundreds of episodes has already been localized there, that's popular enough to last that long.

This looks like the previous one except they replaced the mountains with a soccer stadium.

Browsing the wiki.. apparently in Spain and Italy it's in the 400s, and France and Germany are a bit more behind. The manga however seems to be only 6 or so volumes behind in all those countries, and both the anime/manga are relatively faithful (the US was the only country to change the names) though apparently parents in France complained about the violence and it was pulled from the kids channel it aired on before Cartoon Network France acquired it and aired it instead.

Wow someone's pissed at crunchyroll. I don't really know why you would be since they've been legit now for some time. Plus they have almost all of the simal-casts here in the USA which is a great thing to have. I'm greatful that I can get subbed anime right when it airs and still support the people producing it Very Happy
