Apparently the story gets a even better and it is more engrossing, however I am still put off by this manga because of the excess fanservice, it just looks way too weird at times... A part of me really wants to buy it, but the other part is not convinced....

I found the review to be very accurate and accurate for the series in general (I've read beyond vol 3). The story is a page turner and it has momentum in part because there are goals that are being worked towards. I think some of the art improves in time and Rebecca is spot on that some of the wildlife and backgrounds look really good. However, the idea of kick butt and fairly competent junior high students was stretching it for me in this series and spoiler[this was of course contrasted with the adults which tend to be either incompetent, dumb, would be rapists or evil]. I also didn't care for the use of some female adults as fanservice spoiler[and to imply possible attraction between students and adults. It backs away from there], but obviously this is a series aimed more at a younger male audience.
For all the research and detail that was put into this series, which I appreciated, it was the unrealistic parts along with some clunky moments and some unnecessary fanservice that ultimately made me drop it. I think its still entertaining and some people will definitely enjoy it, but it wasn't working for me. |
