This is a very well deserved award. This show is a masterpiece. There was just nothing else like it that came out last year(or even this year).I highly recommend it when it comes out over here(or is out already?). It's a must see for any anime fan

This title caught my attention a long time ago because of its unique visuals. The textures/coloring remind me of short films I've seen from Studio 4C (and if anything reminds me of Studio 4C, it automatically gets an A+ in my book). Anyway, I haven't seen a full episode yet, but I'll be first in line to buy the DVD when it comes out.

I agree with bahamut, this is a well deserved award for an exceptional show. Too bad I couldn't give it a 'Masterpiece' rating - I didn't like how it kind of fell apart after episode 18, what with the plot hole of all plot holes regarding the Count's reaction to a certain mistake, and the almost totally superfluous episode 19. Ah well, it's still one of the best shows I've seen and it certainly deserves this award.
(It's nice to see that Blue Sub 6 and Yukikaze, both among my favorites, have also won first place in the OVA category.)

This may come as an utter shock to people, considering my username and all, but... Well deserved.

This is interesting. I always wanted to see Gankutsuou, but I'm wondering how close any other series were to getting this title? I can imagine Air,Mai HiME and possibly Bleach were pretty close as well...
