Dang, dropping "DBZ Kai" that fast? Pretty surprising, honestly. Looks like I'll be snatching up "Kodocha" and "Nerima Daikon Brothers", though.

Not too surprising. None of these titles were particularly successful and Kai seemed to have poor sell through at B&M stores compared to the other DBZ releases.

FUNimation is going with the Season sets to cover Part 1 to 4. Think of it similar to how the One Piece voyage sets are handled (as the bigger collections come along). DBZ Kai S1 set (DVD, Blu-ray) are still in-print. From an inquiry earlier today I was told S2 (which will cover Parts 3 & 4) is targeted for a summer 2012 release.

Whoa, KAI? Now that's a surprise...guess for those they'll move on with the fuller season sets of it, and probably fix it to have the proper score. Eventually. Maybe. Or something.
Sad to see Kodocha and Nerima Daikon Brothers go, both are really good shows. Nerima Daikon Brothers is HILARIOUS.

Only slight shock is Kai, but then they are phasing the part sets out for whole season sets, which makes sense.

I highly recommend both Kodocha and NDB for any anime fan. The dub of NDB is pretty much the funniest one ever made.

No surprise about Kai at all since those sets in particular had the Kenji Yamamoto score.

They aren't dropping Kai, just ceasing production of the Parts 1-4 DVD's which are being replaced with Season Sets.

That some of these titles are being discontinued is no surprise, but...Dragonball Z Kai? I thought that was doing pretty well for them. Could it truly be that Funi has reached "Peak Dragonball"? If I ever did buy DBZ, Kai would certainly be the version I'd get, so maybe they'll bring it back someday. It's hard to think of Funimation dropping a DBZ property without some sort of extenuating circumstance, though, and I'm curious what that is.
EDIT: Thanks people who posted in between when I started and when I made my post; they're just replacing them with season sets. Question averted!
Kodomo no Omocha I haven't seen myself, but I did buy both sets for my brother a Christmas or two ago, so I'm glad to have snapped them up for someone I know before they poof.
Also, for anyone who's seen it, how is Nerima Daikon Bros.? I've been aware of the series for a couple years now, and was never sure whether or not it would be my kind of thing.
I might be more keen on picking something up from here, but I just made a largely Bandai order a few weeks ago, so I don't want to over-stretch myself.

I also can't say I'm too disappointed to see Kodocha going out of print. I heard a lot of good things about it and was even at a con where Colleen Clinkenbeard was begging people to buy it because it was doing so terribly.
However, I don't think I've ever been so annoyed by a series in my entire life. I even gave it a second chance and could never make it past the first dozen episodes or so. I wanted to strangle all the main characters.
Sucks for the fans of the show though, especially as the entirety of it was never brought over in the first place.

Well, not too surprising on Kodocha is going out of print, since I think Funi said a long while ago that they weren't going to license the rest. But this does tell me I need to get Nerima Daikon Brothers, and possibly Kodacha, before I don't have the chance to do so anymore.
And at least Kai technically isn't going out of print, but instead being placed out in larger sets.

Well, I Guess Kodocha and Nerima Daikon Brothers (a funny show IMHO) are going the way of the dodo, DBZ; Kai is going to seasons sets and probably A&E will pick up Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles (as they already have Robotech TV).

Not particularly devastated by the demise of these titles, but I guess now's the perfect time to get Kodocha. I'll just buy what's available and import the rest of the series.

It's the first ever full-fledged anime musical TV series, and it is directed by Nabeshin (Excel Saga, Puni Puni Poemy). The animation is extremely low-budget so the art will not blow you away, but if you like to laugh (and if you're not a prude) then definitely check it out. It's the anime-version of the Blues Brothers. Basically a group of people want to build a big dome so they can play concerts but crazy stuff keeps happening to get in their way. The dub is easily the funniest ever made. They went through and dubbed all of the songs (even the ones where Japan simply kept the lyrics the same, like Rental song, the English version makes sure every song is unique in lyrics). And Chris Patton as Ichiro is my favorite dub performance ever... ~yay.
