Well, the quality of the trailer doesn't help too much, but from what I could hear, the dub doesn't sound so bad. ^^

I wouldn't mind seeing both versions - the US and UK dub - one day just to compare them and see which version I would like the most, however.

Does anyone know the song that plays in the trailer? I don't believe it's on the movie's soundtrack.

I don't think this trailer shows anything new from past trailers.

The song is "Summertime" by Bridgit Mendler, available for purchase on iTunes on 2/13/12.

Well, male version is probably Sean. Not TOO far off from Sho.

I guess they were trying to bring the film back to a Western setting. Which makes sense, since none of the other characters have Japanese names, the film has no visual trace of Japanese-ness, and the book is British. (He does appear in the book, according to Wikipedia. He's never named, but it's indicated he's a British national who was living in India before returning to the British countryside.)

I wonder how the UK dub handled it.

UK dub retained the Japanese name Sho, since the film was set in Japan and all the humans are Japanese. (Sho's family also have Japanese names.) I'm more concerned about that song playing in the background... Please tell me they didn't try to "pop-ify" that gorgeous music.

Sho sounds way too old the US dub. -_- At least they made him sound young in the UK dub and kept his Japanese name.

I sure do hope they got their Disney Channel D-Listers to sing one. Is there some specific reason they have to push these child actors into these roles?

That's how I felt about the dub cast for Laputa. Van der Beek felt way out of place.

I prefer the his US voice rather than his UK. But idk I guess I have to see the US version to really judge. Either way I love this movie!

I got carried away watching the one with UK dub. It was a lot better than the US dub. Hope when the dvd comes out the UK dub is included.

The first song was already identified, but the 2nd one is Jonsi - Around Us. He's part of Sigur Ros and the song is available on his last album. I think it goes very well with the look and feel of the movie.

I think the actors are doing a great job. The first song is pretty horrible and will probably end up as a credits theme.
