Intersting. I like their name, though. Laughing

If they're into classics, maybe Kanon will finally get licensed. Rolling Eyes

Uh, by 'classics', they seem to mean 'titles that are more than twenty years old'.

...having said that, a website that is essentially blank and no publicity whatosever is not something that particularly inspires confidence in their ability to actually carry their plans through to success...

Great. Like we don't have enough companies releasing anime. Very Happy

Seriously, if they're bringing over some of these older classics and more Lupin movies, then I'm all for it.

Hi i'm Selby with Discotek Media.

The web site that's up is only temporary so I could post trailers for the news sites to link to. The actual site is still being designed and it will be active before the first release comes out. It will have trailers for everything and an easy to use interface.

I want to correct something in the news, when I said every title will be anamorphic and have an English dub, I was talking about Puss n' Boots, Treasure Island, and Taro specifically.

All titles will be relased in their original aspect. Fuma is 4:3 for instance.

The live action Lupin will not have a dub. It will be subtitled only. It will be anamorphic widescreen and it was remastered in Japan and i'm using the same master. It's beautiful.

Were not just an anime distributor, we are going to put out both anime and live action films.

this is a complete run down of all the titles we have at this moment:

Zero Woman Red Handcuffs (live action)
Zeroka no onna: Akai wappa
Originally released in 1974
Street date: October 25th 2005

Animal Treasure Island
(Dobutsu takarajima)
Originally released in 1971
Street date: November 15th 2005

Taro the Dragon Boy
(Tatsu no ko Tarô)
Originally released in 1979
Street Date January 24th 2006

Lupin the 3rd Strange Psychokinetic Strategy (live action)
(Rupan sansei: Nenrikichan sakusen)
Originally released in 1974
Street date February 21st 2006

Sexy Soccer (live action)
Originally released in 2003
Street Date March 28th 2006

War in Space (live action)
(Wakusei daisenso)
Originally released in 1977
Street Date April 25th 2006

Puss 'n Boots
(Nagagutsu o haita neko)
Originally released in 1969
Street date: May 30th

Burst City (live action)
(Bakuretsu Toshi)
Originally released in 1982
Street date June 27th

Robokill Beneath Discoclub Layla (live action)
(Mikadoroido)
Originally released in 1991

Bye Bye Jupiter (live action)
(Sayonara Jupiter)
Originally released in 1983

Lupin the Third Legend of the Gold Babylon
(Rupan sansei: Babiron no Ogon densetsu)
Originally released in 1985

Lupin the Third Fuma Conspiracy
(Rupan sansei: Fûma ichizoku no inbô)
Originally released in 1987

Thanks

Selby

So the two animated Lupin movies aren't getting a dub? Either way, I'm looking forward to this. I'm always glad to see some older stuff finally make its way over here.

Cool, it's good to see distributor take on some older classic titles. I've never heard of 'Animal Treasure Island', but I'm familiar with 'Osamu Tezuka's 'Treasure Island'. Any chance that you guys might want to take on some of those classics titles? Not to mention there are some 'Phoenix' movies that were done during the 60's too that no one has ever seen.

Yes, the novelty value of this film is very high even though I heard it's not very good. Still, being a Lupin fan I would realy like to see it.

With their pre-Ghibli Miyazaki flicks, they have a better chance of breaking into the retail market than Animeigo.

Yeah, I'm sure it's probably cheesy as can be. But being a die-hard Lupin III fan, I can't wait to see it.

But GYARR, it drives me crazy when people refer to it as "Puss 'N Boots". The story is "Puss IN Boots", not "Puss AND Boots"!!!

(Nevertheless, I am really looking forward to this. Laughing )

If DiscoTek is focusing on classics, why are we getting an anime from 2003 (Sexy Soccer) and a live-action flick from 1991 (Robokill Beneath Discoclub Layla)? Both are less than 15 years old (SS is 2 years old/RBDL is 14).

When have you ever seen honorifics in R1 subtitles? Then again, I'm a dub fan, so I wouldn't know.
