Poor Sonic. All of his games have been failures since he went 3D. He has to insurance to pay the expenses from releasing bad games that did not sell.

All of his games? I'm not a fan of majority of the games that have been released since the Sonic games for the Dreamcast but Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations, while not amazing, are considered to be good games. Same with some of the DS games.

His return to platforming, Sonic 4, is quite good, though.

I loved Adventure 2: Battle. I sunk so much time into that game it isn't even funny. I could even do some of the levels with my eyes closed... and I'm not exaggerating.

You have no idea what you're talking about. No matter the quality of Sonic's games from the past decade, they've always become best-sellers, at least the "main series" entires... Hell, even the buggy and unfinished mess that was Sonic 2006 sold well.
Also, Sonic's last two 3D games, Colors & Generations, are both excellent games. As for this commericial, it was entertaining enough, and I liked how they used the invicibility and 1-up tunes from Sonic 3 in it.

Am I the only one who was surprised that Sonic's rates were so low?

The first music I think isn't from sonic 3 I know the effect they used when sonic saw his rates was the Chaos Emerald Get music from Sonic 3
Edit: the first music is the inviciblity music from Sonic 3D blast

No, it really is the invincibility music from Sonic 3. All of it is.

You act like he's never been in commercials before. Remember Cheerios, or McDonald's? It just means he's regained enough star power to become notable again.

My reaction: Okay, that's pretty darn cool!
My brother's reaction: WHY HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS ON TV!?
To me, a majority of the Progressive commercials are enjoyable - as far as commercials actually go - so adding Sonic to the mix was just a touch of genius. I wonder who was the video game fan that helped come up with that.

Nah, Geo was right. This is all from Sonic 3. They might have used it in other games too but Sonic 3 was the first appearance of it.
No shock that the best Sonic game is the one they used music from!
