Yeah, I figured we'd finally hear about Blu-rays for the older "Macross" shows this year. Hopefully there will be news about "DYRL."

Too bad it'll never come out in the US Sad

It would be silly to wait until 2014 for a DYRL BD release, it makes much more sense to just release it later this year along with Flash Back 2012 (as they go together). That keeps the 30 year anniversary going strong. Maybe Macross II and Plus as well, or just everything. This would be the year to get everything out definitively.

I love Macross. Have the Japanese laserdisc of DYRL. But at over $500 dollars, I guess I don't have that fanatical type of love. Rather have some money in the bank, to buy more anime, than to blow it one time.

At that price point, you can't even put it on your birthday or Christmas wish list!

Um, I don't know if this is a response to what I said, but if it is, that's what I meant; it's the 30th anniversary year of the franchise, so I figured we'd start hearing about BD releases of the pre-"Zero" stuff, just not at the same time (announce the original first then move on to the others). Of course it wouldn't make sense to wait until 2014 to release "DYRL," "Plus," "7," etc.

And if it wasn't a response, then sorry for the misunderstanding.

I would love to have this, but sadly, the price is a bit much for my budget at this time. I'll just have to have my friend look out for this in the used shops during his future trips to Japan.

Would love to get the Complete Edition, which admittedly has a lot of nifty extras, but that price is way too rich for my blood.

Wonder how the remaster looks................ It's such old animation, plus J-studios weren't known for keeping film in good condition, especially way back then...............

Have ya guys heard the story when a Tatsunoko studio gopher, on the way to the TV station just a couple hours before broadcast time, lost the just-finished episode tape on the train, so the TV station had to scramble airing something else? Laughing

I'd assume it's the same remaster as the recent DVDs; which look pretty good, but have a ton of color correction compared to the R1 Animeigo remaster that makes me wonder. Looks like i have a reason to put up with it now.

"HD remaster," not "new telecine"?
Hmm.
I'm happy to spend $600 on a proper BD release of Macross but maybe I'd better wait till we see what the quality is like.

If Bandai Visual really is serious about including English subtitles in ther big releases, this boxset would be a good place to start.
