So, 2011 is almost over and although a lot of good goals we set for the new year are forgotten or given up on in the first few days/weeks, I still think it's fun to think of some goals and share them. It can be very simple, from buying that single volume to changing your lifestyle. What are your resolutions for the New Year?

I would like to be more open about my hobby. Most of my friends know I'm a fan, but my parents see it as a weird thing they don't get. When my mom watched a couple of minutes of FMAB with me, she asked things like: 'Do you always watch this (she meant that I always watch the same series... sure)?', 'Is this the end?', 'It looks weird, I can draw better than that'. Should've explained it a long time ago...

Other goals: more action, less postponing important activities (anime is a good excuse to postpone my homework) and buying the last two box sets of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

1) Hmm, might be a bit of an odd one, but one of my resolutions will be to watch more live-action Japanese movies. I see them in TRSI's listings pretty much all the time, but I'm not entirely sure who buys them, just because I personally go on there to buy anime and manga. I've seen a few, but I don't just want to watch widget movies (like Wild Zero, which was pretty awesome). I'm sure I will watch widget movies, but I also saw Departures, I enjoyed that, that wasn't widget. I've already acquired the Tokyo Zombie movie (due to liking the manga), but those three that I've mentioned and Seven Samurai are the only four live action Japanese movies I can name having seen off the top of my head. I enjoy foreign movies, but it's like I've somehow been ignoring Japanese ones because, well hey, I watch anime, that's from Japan, that outta do it, right? But I do get the feeling I'm missing out on good stuff. For me, this is my "try new things" thing.

2) Ok, so for actual anime, it's to watch my entire backlog, which I've been working on pretty well so far this month, but I want to keep it up. And if I get a new series, it can't be backlog after a month, therefore to watch any new series I get within about a month after they come in.

3) I also want to rewatch older things rather than buying new things. I don't keep everything I buy, I specifically only keep things that I think are worth rewatching. The "rewatching" part is the part that doesn't happen very often. Sure, I've seen Robotech like three times (and a fourth if you count watching the sub only originals), but poor Planetes has been sitting on the shelf just waiting for like 5 years. I don't think I've rewatched it since I've bought it. So yeah, I guess it's to rewatch anything on my shelf that I know I haven't rewatched before. Oar maybe haven't in like 5 years (haven't seen Outlaw Star in a while, but I have seen it a lot, seeing how it was the first anime I ever bought). After the backlog is done though.

4) Buy Basara! The manga I mean. It's a damn expensive one, it'd be a massive blind buy, but I need it to complete my trilogy of the three awesome older Viz shojo (that are longer series, along with Please SAve My Earth and Banana Fish, both of which I own and adore). I might not be able to get it all in English, so I don't mind a couple of German volumes. Been wanting to buy this for freakin' years.

I want to finish my backlog. It currently stands at 1,456 episodes, and it would be nice if I could knock it down to something manageable. Say, double digits, if not to zero.

I'm currently watching one-hundred and twenty-six (126) episodes a week, that includes currently airing shows though. I'll tell you what, between attacking my backlog and satiating my addiction to Minecraft, I'm really not enjoying the Summer holidays as I should be.

^^Wow. Now I feel that I shouldn't write there.

1)I will make a plan to reduce my anime and manga backlog. It's unavoidable, since my list grows irregularly- several titles added after months of drought- but now I will solemnly watch the fansubbers and scanlators and read /watch new chapters/episodes as soon as they are released.

2)I won't delay promised reviews. I usually waited for I don't know what till I forgot important details and lost all my notes.

3) Watch and review as many World's Masterpiece Theater series as it's possible.

4) Slowly complete Black Jack, start to buy Otome Youkai Zakuro manga.

Everyone else is doing the "finish the backlog" thing, so I'll go with something entirely different: track down and obtain either a digital or hard copy of the My-Otome soundtrack.

A secondary resolution is to finally track down and watch fansubs of the second Story of Saiunkoku series (since Geneon went belly-up before ever getting around to it), if they even exist.

@ dtm42

That is astonishing. I don't think I would even have the power to sit through that many episodes and try to keep track of each show.

I'm kind of the opposite in that I don't watch anime in a faster fashion. So next year, I'll try to increase watching my shows in a week. At at least four episodes and it doesn't have to be from the same series so that I won't get burned out.

Hmmmm... Resolutions...

Well, the first one was to come back to this forum more frequently. Smile

Unfortunately, my real life ambitions still outrank anime viewing. Last year, my top priority was getting married. This year, my top priority is kicking out 3 graphic novels ranging between 32 and 200 pages a pop. Only 30 pages away from finishing the first one which will clock in around 98 pages. Have another that I need to finish by March (the 32 page one) and then another biggie to unleash at a convention in the fall.

I'm also in the DoTA2 beta... that's consuming quite a large amount of my free time. Anime cry

Given that I continue meeting my daily and weekly goals to further my ambitions...

1) Acquire Sailor Moon DVD sets. Yes, expensive. Totally worth it.

2) Continue with last year's resolution: watch at least 6 episodes of a show before I even consider dropping it.

3) Continuing from 2 years ago: watch as many new shows as possible - given that I at least find the premise interesting.

And, like most of you...

4) Play catch up! I've got a room full of anime box sets that need to be watched.

I'd be wary if I were you. After being fairly disappointed with most of the first season (specifically the Brown Province arc) I chose not to watch the second. But I did read plenty of episode summaries of the second season, and I'm not sure the writing is even up to that of the first. I will be very interested in hearing your thoughts.

Eighteen episodes a day, which is seven and-a-half hours @ twenty-five minutes per episode. It's actually been really, really hard, since family duties over Christmas took up a lot of time. And so they should I suppose, though my viewing schedule got shot to hell because of it.

Oh, and Minecraft is so insanely addictive that I'm constantly thinking about it rather than attacking my backlog. My current tasks are finalising the colour scheme and assembling reference pictures for my planned 2:1 scale model of the Xephon from RahXephon. That's why I'm still up at half-past four in the morning watching the second half of Honey & Clover, because I only started watching my daily quota of Anime a few hours ago.

Someone needs to stage an intervention, and soon, hah ha.

As to how I can keep track of things, it is easier than you might think. It's kind of rare that I'll forget what has happened in a show even if has been several months since the last episode. I also try to wolf down an entire show in as little as one sitting (if it is a single cour long), so it's all fresh in my mind.

Tonight I have already watched episodes 37 and 38 of Space Runaway Ideon (not too bad) and the second Macross Frontier movie (which was very disappointing). I've also watched episodes 13 to 18 of Honey & Clover, and I've told myself that I'm not to go to bed until the first season is finished. All this pain and suffering and it ain't even New Year's Day yet. That's how ridiculously and stubbornly dedicated I am to getting rid of this accursed backlog before I acquire even more Anime. My advice is to not be a fool like me and instead just pace yourself.

Wow, I didn't know that you make Graphic Novels. Impressive.

I have some backlog issues too, but I think I'll just leave some of it unwatched. I have already reached the point in my watching where I can make quite accurate predictions of what I like to watch or not. There is no point in wasting my time on things that don't interested me anymore. I've learned what there is to learn.

So I guess my resolution is to purposely cut down on my watching and focus more on quality. Hopefully doing so will turn this hobby close to being as enjoyable as it used to be.

I'm going to finish watching Terra e... and I'm going to finally finish watching The Hakkenden and Dantalian no Shoka. These two series have been hanging in limbo for months.

My secondary resolution is to watch two series which I planned to watch a long time ago, but I have never gotten round to doing it: Tweeny Witches and Wolf's Rain.

Try to drop the cr@p shows that I don't enjoy rather than force myself through them at the cost of watching something more enjoyable.

Watch more series from the current season as they air rather than wait for the season to end and THEN have a few more series on the 'want to see' list.

Attack 26 and longer series rather than hang onto the short ones.

1.Finish Nichijou ( if I don't finish it before New Years Eve)
2. Finish Kodocha
3. Start and try to at least make it half way throught the series of Sailor Moon.
4. Watch Hetalia World Series in English Dub.
5. Go to see "The Borrower Arrietty" at the movie theatre ( I've always wanted to go see a studio Ghibli movie in theatres)
6. Learn the dance for the Nichijou theme song
7.Start Pani Poni dash (maybe)
8. Vow to say "Hasta la Pasta" more (its a line from Hetalia)
and thats about it. Very Happy

I tried to do these two this year. I failed miserably on the first but succeeded admirably on the second. In plain English, I watched a lot of crap, but I also ensured that my backlog didn't grow larger.

I think the outcomes of the two goals are kind of related. Sure, there were shows that were clearly bad and I should have dropped but didn't. However, there were some shows that could have gone either way right up until the end, and if I had dropped them early on then I might have had to pick them up again if I heard they were better than previously expected.

When (if) you find one, let me know. I'll send you my personal email so you can tell me where you found it, since the three sites I use doesn't have it (just the first).

My anime resolutions are:
-Spend less money. I know this sounds bad when it comes to supporting the industry, but what I mean is to stop throwing my money away on impulse buying due to low prices. There's no point in buying something if it's not going to be appreciated.

-No more non-scale figures that are cheaply made or look deformed. The only non-scale I'll buy are those with a static pose.

-No replying to posts of two individuals on this forum. I've had it with their "discussions".

-Buy a 1:3 scale BJD of Fate Testerossa.

-Get signatures from FUNimation VAs, especially Hilary Haag.

Tough list indeed.

What? What? WHAT?

Google is your friend.

Specifically, googling "saiunkoku monogatari season 2 watch online" is your friend. I know for a fact that at least one of the sites on the first page of results* will work. Crap quality vid, but it works, it has English subs, and beggars can't be choosers.

Unless you're looking to download?

For me at least; the search results you see might be different depending on your search history.
