cartoon network is one if not the best place to get your anime fix and i applaud for leaving much of their intros but what is up with their outros? cowboy bebop is sped up and the voice do not match the lyrics and when s-cry-ed first began airing it was super fast and now they cut the song off towards the end and all of a sudden ¨i believe in drastic my soul¨ if your gonna leave the original endings leave them at regular speed dont make them fast i loved the stand alone complex ending theme but cartoon network didn't allow me to hear the whole thing. do it right or dont do it all!

"Don't do it at all" is not an option. Credits are kinda mandatory, after all. And it's either they cut the ending short, cut the opening short, or cut actual show content to properly fit the show into the timeslot. Now I don't know about you, but between the show itself, the opening, and the ending, I'd rather see the ending shortened, and I'm sure I'm not the only one, seeing as how Adult Swim used to show full closings until (it seems, anyway) enough people demanded intros that the more recent shows started having them with the trade-off of a shortened closing.

And, actually, if you watched Adult Swim this past Saturday you were treated to the FULL outros of Samurai Champloo and Paranoia Agent. Not sure why they did this since it isn't the norm for them, but I'm wondering if it is the start of a new trend.

That said, I still don't expect them to go back and re-air the full ending credits to Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, Witch Hunter Robin, 1st season FMA, or GITS: SAC since they've never shown them that way before.

Some shows have much better endings than openings though (like Champloo or FMA's second ending). I'd at least like to see them change it up. Every opening and ending should get at least one complete playthrough during it's run (generally the first one for convenience), if not an alternating cycle of cropped opening-ending-opening-ending. Or they could just run the whole damned thing and cut a few of those annoying little eyecatch things they shove in there.

Ah, but then someone would pipe up with "Hey, they cut the eyecatch things for *insert AS title here*!!!" And as far as the AS promotional eyecatches go, that's advertising, so the possibility of those stopping is slim to none.

I believe that anime fans are way too spoiled now. 10 years ago, or even 6 or 5, I would have been tickled pink that so many great, relatively new and fresh from Japan series were hitting American airwaves. And people complain about shortened ending credits? Give me a break. Why can't you just enjoy it? I don't even have cable, so you're getting a hell of a lot more than I am. If the edited endings bother you people, BUY THE DVDS. Support the artists and companies bringing this to you.

I enjoy the ending to Samurai Champloo. The sped up scenes are kind of funny.

I'd have to agree with you, Cloe. I remeber back when I first started watching anime, we were actually lucky to have the original Japanese songs left in the broadcast version of an anime. Now, most shows keep all their original music, show the original opening/ending sequences, and are significantly less editied than stuff like the old Pioneer DBZ or DiC Sailor Moon of my youth.

I can also understand where your coming from on your second point as well, I don't have cable either, so if I want to watch something I have to either buy the DVDs or borrow them from people, and again, as far as edits go, there are much, much worse things than sped up opening and ending sequences

IIRC, when Cowboy Bebop was in its first couple of rounds of broadcasts on CNN, they showed both the full opener and the full closer. Only in its more recent replays have they trimmed the closer down.

Although the closers are great, I wouldn't mind at least occasionally seeing the openers for Inuyasha, since that's the one CNN series I've never seen on DVD. And it does have the shortest broadcast time of any CNN anime title as it is. . .

Zatch Bell barely makes 20 minutes with full opening and closing. Actually they did air the theme song for Inuyasha last month, I forgot the episode. Needless to say I was stunned.

Adult Swim has gotten more sponsors since it became such a big hit, so now shows can be a maximum of 23 min 15 sec, except for special occasions like finales.

I was too, I couldn't believe it. Anyone know if there was any special reason why or if it was just freakishly random?

Is CN going to air the intros for all their new shows now or are they picking and choosing which shows? Conan is the last recent show I remember that didn't get a full intro, but then it was before FMA, GitS, PA, SC, and s-cry-ed.

As already mentioned, they have to make a cut somewhere so it fits into there time schedule.

The fact that they have full opening, episode (with 1 commercial break in the middle, just as it was aired in Japan) and full closing on most anime, just speed up (Bebop and Champloo for example) you can still at least get all the visuals of the ending which are vital to story line. It is a shame that they have to cut endings a little short like in Fullmetal Alchemist, but it's a real treat when you get DVD and see a the entire uncut ending/openings, as well textless in the case of FMA Smile

You do have to applaud [adult swim] for trying really hard to maintain the original version as much as possible, unlike some of the crap they pull G4.

I'm not sure if anyone else still watches Gundam SEED and .hack//Legend on CN on Fridays at maybe 1:00 in the morning (technically making it Saturday), but if you do, you'll notice that some announcer is actually talking over the ending theme. That's what I find annoying.

It's been that way it's entire run at that time spot. Nothing new.

What? Goofy little barbell things flying around with odd music playing is promotion to these people? No way.

Yeah, but it's not 10 years ago. It's today. And today we expect more than we would have expected 10 years ago, because it's not 10 years ago. 10 years from now we'll expect even more. Nobody ever gets anywhere by demanding no more than what they had 10 years ago.

Honestly, while they should run it once or twice (I think they did run the most recent opening a week or two ago), the Inu Openings are generally pretty bad, especially in compairison to the endings, so if they have to pick one, they made the right choice, but I wish they would alternate or something.
