Probably the most powerfully done death in the film is the death of a five-year old girl, Ashura, who is killed when a round from a rocket launcher hits her head. And this is fully shown in the movie, without the camera averting away from the scene. |
Actually, if you watch the scene frame by frame, you'll notice that it's actually an enemy laser that kills Ashura. When I first saw Be Invoked, I, too, thought that it was the rocket launcher that kills her.
I think the entire film is pretty disturbing given how almost every major character of the show dies a brutal, graphic death.

LOL, really?
i know it was messed up, but its nothing compared to a lot of the other things mentioned in this thread.
in fact, i´d say the most disturbing part would be when they are taking the girl/boy on the boat and she/he is talking with Rock. you know which part..

Some people probably also have never watched an episode of Law and Order SVU. Or CSI. Or Homicide. Or NCIS, etc, etc,.

So this is not necessarily disturbing but it is very creepy. I just watched Oreimo ep. 9 and the part where Kirino has to take a shower midway through playing her eroge before continuing was a little unsettling. Also, she was drooling too. That is just wrong.

Let's try to tone down on graphic descriptions, and remember to use spoiler tags.
My first choice would have to be the final episode of Berserk -- completely came out of nowhere. And then, of course, the infamous puppy scene from Elfen Lied.

Elfen Lied without a doubt.
The dog killing scene in the flashback. You know something is messed up when the audience is rooting for the painful slaughter of little kids and came out disappointed that we couldn't see it.

There are too many scenes from RIN ~Daughters of Mnemosyne~ that qualify here for me to list, but I once tried to eat dinner while watching an episode.
Yeesh.

Several scenes from the final episode of Blood C are pretty disturbing even in censored format.

The opening scenes to Blue Gender's first episode are pretty disturbing. They really capture the absolute terror that someone thrown into that situation with no foreknowledge at all would experience:
Basically, the show starts with the main character put into hibernation because of an incurable disease he has. We see him and another girl going into hibernation share a smile before going into the tanks.
Then he wakes up . . . in the middle of a horrific and bloody battle between robotic machines and monstrous bugs. He has no idea what's going on, and he's the lucky survivor - he sees that the girl he was smiling at got rolled up into a weird ball of flash by the bugs. He actually wets himself in terror, and who can blame him?

For me I'm just gonna start off with what is -definitely- not disturbing: And that is any scene in Deadman Wonderland.
How can anything in that series possibly be disturbing when you don't even feel empathy for the characters to begin with because you know their whole existential drive is basically to become cannon fodder for the sadistic urges of the directors?
*Ahem*
Enough about shitty anime! For me the most disturbing scene I've ever seen in an anime, and it may have been due to my relative youth when watching it, is that scene in Akira, when Setsuo turns into a big mass of Biological What-the-fudge and his girlfriend is caught up inside the ventricles and gets squashed like a lemon.
But several scenes from Elfen Lied are definitly a close runner up.

I have to say, I chuckle every time someone mentions the dog scene in Elfen Lied as disturbing yet makes no mention of the 12 year old girl forced into position of sexual abuse while nude.
I'm throwing this out, only because others will agree: the Endless Eight episodes in Haruhi season two have got to be the most disturbing scenes in all of anime's history.
Well, the second time trying to watch them, anyway.

Might want to spoiler tag that lest someone gets mad at you .
I made mention of that Mayu scene in my opening post of this thread so many years ago. I think the dog scene is definitely disturbing, but hardly the most disturbing scene in that series.
