Well, one step, apparently, is that you will have to move to Austin, or Houston, Texas. That is where a few of the bigger Anime VO studios are located. They don't allow you to "phone in" your performance over ISDN because they want to be able to direct you, and that works better in a face-to-face environment.

A masters Degree in Acting or Art and Theater would help a lot.

True, but I would also think that if you had a background in on-air radio or TV work that might work, as well. After all, a good voice demo is a good voice demo.

One of my best friends goes to UT in Austin, and he has a friend that regularly does voice work (minor roles) for Inu Yasha. He gets to play villagers who say stuff like "What's that?" and "Let's get out of here!"

in the credits of one Kenshin (TV series) theres an actor credited as "boy who wants the red one" (his like was "I want the red one!") Laughing

The thing with most performance arts, though, is that you don't neccecarily need a degree in it to get work (though it does help). case in point: all the good musicians who have a degree in something other than music

Do you have any previous experience as an actor? As an amateur actor (in theatre Razz) myself, I can tell you it's no easy thing. It's just like being a 'popular' musician, if you want to "make it" you have to be good (or 'hot' enough for some cases, or (now that I think about it) willing to sell your soul for money and endorsements Rolling Eyes). The odds are against you. Don't let me discourage you though Anime smile + sweatdrop, especially if your dreaming of this being your career.

That would be fun, I'd like to try that. I'd even do it for free just so I could have my voice on tv (and always be remembered as the guy who "wanted the red one").
