I just got the First volume of Planetes yesterday. And I am very much enjoying it. It is always fun to buy dvds randomly.

I just finished Tenchi muyo Ryo-Ohki OVA 3 vol.1 today. I love it, but Ryoko's voice hurts me Crying or Very sad She was my favorite character. I'm going to watch it again to try to like her voice. I love the .Hack games, but she sounds to much like Kite.

I just finished FMP!:TSR episode; excellent, and am wanting more. Also, working through Kannazuki no Miko, Saikano (series), and Infinite Ryvius.

I'm playing a little catch up and working on some comtempories as you can tell. I thinking of throwing in some movies and OAVs in there too.

I'm currently watching Gundam X through some Fansubs.

Garrod is easily the most likeable of the Gundam Protagonists that I've seen. I Believe in God!

I'm currently watching Rurouni Kenshin and I'm on episode 46. I'm glad that the series became a lot more interesting around the Kyoto story arc.

Texhnolyze.

starts off slow, but after the first five episodes or so, this series gets freaking awesome. not only is the story cool, but it's pretty freaking heavy in the violence department. the main character quite literally beats people's faces in.

I'll take that description to be your undeniable suggestion for others to investigate this series. I'll take you up on it. Anyways I just started watching Beating Angel Dokuro Chan, Green Green TV, Mezzo DSA and Gunslinger girl. I am currently looking into Elfen Lied.

With all of the domestic series releases I no longer bother watching imports. Right now I have a big stack of DVDs to be seen, but some of the series that I've been collecting so far in the last two months (or where has all my money gone) include:

Galaxy Railways: I just ordered the first volume which is released this week. I love the Matsumoto universe which I believe this is a part of (999?), although I'm going off a very brief amazon description.

Area 88: I'm a huge fan of the original, so I just ordered volume 1 which is also released this week.

Fafner: Although this was released a couple of weeks ago, Amazon has it's release this week. Don't know much about the series so it's a bit of a gamble.

A few new box sets were released a couple of weeks ago that I'm plowing through,

Silent Mobius: Wow watching the first DVD reminds me of marathoning Borgman for some reason. The television series is so much better than the original Silent Mobius. Bandai really has the best bargains when it comes to economy box sets. It seems to me that this series was a bit under rated.

Infinate Ryvius: Although I already own 4 of the 6 DVDs, I decided to buy the box set. The new box set DVDs still include the really nice laminated cards, although it does cost a little more than Bandai's Big O/Banner economy packs. The sticker on the bottom with the total time and extras listings is peeling off on one corner, but is too sticky to completely remove. I need to get around to watching the last two DVDs.

ROD: Wow, I didn't realize how good the television series is. The Geneon box set isn't too much of a savings, but I believe it includes all the goodies in the original releases. The DVDs don't even have the "not for individual sale" stickers as far as I can tell. I didn't know that both languages have a 5.1 mix.

In transit, and should be here in a couple of days,

Burst Angel: I didn't really care too much for the characters or plot in the first volume, but the animation is really neat, and the Funimation extras/book are really nice. I think this 2nd volume will determine if I buy any more or not. The trailer for this series really bills it as a SF/Western which really isn't that prominent in the series.

Gundam Seed Movie: while not really a series there will be another movie comming out, and it is a series compiled. I here mixed reviews on the movies, but decided to buy them anyways.

Gunslinger Girl: Volume two is on the way. Once again this series is so well animated, although I'm not sure if I will get into the characters, since I'm not "hooked" so far. Too bad (volume one at least) the series doesn't contain one of those neat books/inserts like the FMA releases. The opening sequence by Rin Taro is amazing.

Elfen Lied: Volume two of this series is also in the mail. I was absolutely amazed by the first volume. This series, along with Planetes, is currently my favorite being released. I wonder why they chose such a lousy ending credits song.

DVD series which are currently being released and collected:

Grenadier: I only watched the making of Grenadier so far which is part of the extras on the first DVD. My assumtion was that since it was aired the week before the series, I should watch it first. The extra was somewhat lame, and I placed the DVD on the bottom of my to be watched pile. Hopefully I will watch the first DVD before the second colume is released.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: It's strange watching the first 3 domestic (prequels) DVDs after having seen the first series of episodes so many years ago. I refer to those episodes as the original half, but I guess they will be considered the newer episodes in the US.

Scrapped Princess: I've only had time to watch the first DVD, which was cool, but not amazing by any means. I hear the series gets better, so I will continue to buy the DVDs on faith. It looks like the third DVD will arrive by the time I'm ready to watch the second.

Samurai Champloo: The first 3 DVDs are really fun. I'm not watching these on CN since, I'll only end up watching them again as the DVDs arrive. The 5.1 mix is much better than my poor cable/TiVo recordings of CN are.

Planetes: The first volume is so far one of my favorite DVDs this year. The series (so far) reminds me of Patlabor with really nice artwork. I love the episode with the wills. So funny and sad at the same time. I wonder if that guy interviewed from NASA watched or is aware of the series. He doesn't refer to the series throughout the interview.

Melody of Oblivion: This first DVD was very hard for me to get through. The first episode had me slightly intrigued, but the third and fourth really lost my interest. I only included it since the topic is "What series are you watching recently seen" and though I recently saw the first DVD, I don't think I will buy any others. Probably my least favorite purchase in the last two months.

Gilgamesh: I had mixed feelings about this one too. Although like some have pointed out the themes are similar to X, but the mood feels so different from X to me. X felt like a Shojo/Clamp cinematic experience, while Gilgamesh feels a little more gothic and Gen X-ish. Something about the series made me feel a little quessy.

Full Metal Alchemist: What can I say about this series that hasn't already been said. Since the CN versions were so ahead of the DVDs I cheated and watched them on tv first. The DVDs are gorgeous and worth buying for the liner notes. I find it funny that the three voice actors for Al, Ed and Winry are very pretty girls. Is Romi Park (Edward) Japanese? I've loved her work ever since Brain Powerd.

Ghost in the Shell: I've been collecting the DTS editions and am looking forward to the volume 7 box which is released next week. The interviews with the creators are really nifty. If it were not for them, I would give the standard edition discs to one of my friends.

Gungrave: I'm waiting for the last volume for this series so I'm still in the process of watching it. I watched all the episodes that lead up to the first episode in a mini-marathon. I'm planning on watching the second half in one sitting once the seventh volume arrives.

Otogi Zoshi: With the third volume arriving here soon I will have to marathon the first arc. I really love the animation on the first two DVDs. The creators discusion is a little bit excessive and the university lecture is rather silly but its still nice that they gave us so many extras at a standard cost. Strange, but Amazon is not selling the third DVD.

Series which ended in May include:

Wolfs Rain: I cheated and watched the series on CN, since the tv airing were so ahead of the DVDs. Now that they have all been released I think I will marathon all 7 (or 6) DVDs.

Paranoia Agent: I love the segment that my hero Rin Taro animated. The first episode story boards and last DVD commentary extras are really great. One thing I notice about Geneon, is that they release their complete box sets right after the last volume. Another thing I've noticed is that the box sets cost almost as much as the individual DVDs. I suppose this is one reason I buy so many Geneon titles as they are released.

Series I stopped collecting:

Gantz: I'll admit I only bought the first DVD. I don't think two episodes is enough to give me a very good feel for the show. It wasn't long enough for me to really care about the characters. Maybe if there were 4 episodes I'd care.

Chrono Crusade: It's a bit silly for my taste. I've never been fond of titles like Excel Saga, or Slayers. Chrono Crusade just reminded me a bit too much of those cartoony anime. Sorry.

Peacemaker: I tried to like it but couldn't. I bought the second DVD gave it a second chance and tried to like it but couldn't. I can't get into the main character. The gags are a bit too much for me to handle.

Series which slipped through the cracks:

Shadow Star Narutaru: I'm still not sure if I'll like the series. I might pick up a box set if one is released since it is such a short series.

King Gainar: Does Tomino do anything in this series he hasn't done yet? I might eventually collect this series since I do enjoy Tomino's works (even stuff like Brain Powerd and L-Gaim) but I think I have enough Tomino DVDs for now.

Madlax: Although I did enjoy Noir I didn't want to spend too much cash buying a series which is "just like Noir." Now that I'm hearing that they do differ a bit I might reconsider.

Shingu: Another series that I dismissed by looking at stills. The reviews seem to be okay though so I might eventually pick it up.

Well thats about it for new releases that I've bought in the last two months. Is there anything else I'm missing? Keep in mind I didn't list anything that isn't a series, or a new release/re-release.

I've just wrapped up two shows, bought the last volume of Gundam Seed and Gungrave. Both are great shows and what an awesome ending to Gungrave I did not see this ending coming, it was great.

I am still working on my friends copys of Heat Guy J, its an alright show, I am on like episode 20 and the plot has not gotten interesting at all, kinda dissapointed.

Currently buying volumes of Fullmetal Alchemist and Samurai Champloo as well as watching Naruto fansubs. All three shows are pretty good, Samurai Champloo though could get a little more interesting, I just finished the 3rd volume. I am also looking forward to when my friend buys the last volume of Ghost in the Shell: SAC.

Also cannot wait till they release Samurai 7 as well as Gundam Seed Destiny, I know its been licensed but does anyone know a relative time period in which it is going to be released? I watched the opening for it and the Mobile Suits just look awesome.
