I love the manga to death, and I want to get my grubby hands on a non-imported cartoon as soon as possible.

Well, the anime is supposed to begin showing on Cartoon Network sometime within the next three months, with unedited DVD released supposedly begining in December

They'll clarify it when the time's right. They don't really need to make a big advertising campaign for their September lineup in June, afterall.

There's no way it couldn't be bootleg, to my knowledge, Japanese DVD releases do not have english subs on them, it'd also be R2 if it was a legit JP release, and I'm guessing that collection probably has the first 25 episodes and you paid between $30-$50 dollars for it

Another thing to keep in mind is that no anime companies do Region Free releases, that is usually something only bootleggers do

Exactly.
This may be off-topic, but I have to say that I really like your avatar. I've been searching for a good Naruto one for awhile (especially of Gaara). Unfortunately, none I've found are good enough...or they don't work.
