By the gods...I just watched the trailer for it...I dont know if it has been up on ANN home but here it is any ways:

http://www.advfilms.com/CatalogTheatrical_Detail.asp?ID=16

This looks alot like Voices of a Distant Star, it is done by the same guy: Makoto Shinkai It looks beutiful...and i noticed some voice actors from Voices...which is one of my favorites *looks at avatar*

Anyone else excited about this? It seems like It'll be good, decent length: 90 min...voices was only 30 min

What are your thoughts?

Umm... don't take this the wrong way... but have you been away living in a Trappist monastery or a remote Tibetan lamasery, or something? Makoto Shinkai's latest has been the focus of a great deal of discussion on this board for months, no years.

Well, at least in the trailer we get to sample the English dub. It sounds like Chris Patton and Hillary Haag is going to be in it (unless my ears suck, and it's not them Embarassed ).

Yeah, I'd have to agree with that. While I enjoyed watching both movies, the "love story" in Beyond the Clouds wasn't as apparent to me, making the ending not work as well.

When is the american DVD release going to happen? I've been excited for this movie for a long time, I sure do love Mr. Makoto Shinkai. Wink

I want to see this film (I read about it in NewType USA) but I hope it's not 16+ because I don't watch 16 and up.
EDIT: Kusanagi-sama: My little brother and I both wanted to see PLACE PROMISED and 13+ is his limit (he's 11) and we usually watch anime together so if it was 16+ I wouldn't watch it.

It'll be rated 13+, however, why do you limit yourself to 16 and below? There are quite a bit of good anime that happens to be rated at 16+. May I ask how old you are?

Besides, since ADV and FUNimation have gone to the TV Rating systems, I would suppose that you don't watch TV-MA titles like Gantz and Elfen Lied, and some TV-14 series that might have been rated 16+ like Burst Angel or RahXephon.

I am really glad they're dubbing Beyond the Clouds (I will refer to the Promised Place with this name because it is the name of the movie I was drooling over for the year before it was released); I hope they do as good as a job with it as Voices.

Although, the dubbed words spoken in the trailer I never read in the subs I got; though the thoughts expressed were well-written and acted.

From what I heard, Steven Foster was the ADR director so massive script changes from the original isn't out of the ordinary. Rolling Eyes

Well, "massive", I think, is a bit of an over statement. And anyway, I just looked back to the ADV trailer for Voices, and most of what was said there didn't appear in the video version, so I guess the ADV trailers put in new dialogue, non-copy and past from the original, that encompasses the feeling and attitude of the film.

Either way, I am still psyched for the release!!! Very Happy
