Making it about The Dawn would be an interesting spin.

First the Blood TV series and now this? Maybe my dreams of a Vampire Hunter D series aren't way off...

Don't get your hopes too high on the VH:D thing. I don't think it'd be that easy to adapt a bunch of relatively stand-alone novels into a series. But it'd be nice...

As long as the OVA keeps the humor. That's one thing I hated about the anime. No humor at all. Except the 'previews'.

Hey you! That's my avatar!!

Damnit.

This announcement has really, really made my day. I'll bet it will be the buzz at Anime Boston next weekend. Woooo!!!

Now all there is to worry about is how much money they'll throw at the production. *crosses her fingers* Here's hoping they stick to the original manga designs, keep the soundtrack from the anime series and do a really good job, otherwise, I think a bunch of us might mutiny.

I love the manga and the anime is one of my favs. Although I do wish there was more of a plot and better character development. And I agree that they should bring in the humor from the manga into the OVA as well as keeping Ishii for the music. I love the soundtracks.

But the thing I want to see, or rather hear, in the OVA is a return of the English vocal cast. I've heard some people say they will never watch it in Englsih no matter how good they are, but I think Crispin Freeman as Alucard was incredible. He fit Alucard almost perfectly. While I did enjoy the Japanese casting, I liked the English version just as much if not a little more. I really wanna see all of them return.
I hope Geneon brings them back and doesnt screw it up for those of us who actually like the English voice overs. I love Saiyuki's English track, they were perfect fits, when Geneon got Saiyuki Reload they screwed up the English voices and got a completely different cast. I cant stand to watch that in the Englsih version. I hate not having a choice. Sometimes I just dont wanna read whats going on.

Well almost all of Chapters 1-7 are in the Manga 8-13 really only chapter 10 or 11 (I can't remeber what wone was Integra Fashback to the past) were in the Manga. It would make best sence to start the OVA at chapter 8 and act like episodes 8-13 in the TV series never happened.

Umm... all the chapters were in the manga....

I think you meant to say that Chapters 1-7 are in the anime, and only a bit from 10 or 11 ?

Did I decipher your meaning correctly?

I'm just wondering, why is everyone here excited over the Hellsing OAV? Is it based on their previous experience with the manga, or the TV series? I have seen all of the Hellsing TV series and ended up pretty disappointed. I was really looking forward to it, but I just thought it was nothing special in the end and just an okay series.

spoiler[The character development was non-existent and Arucard wasn't really given much to do except lazily point his gun at his targets and shoot. I thought the villain towards the end was pretty weak also. There were a few scenes that I thought were excellent and what I expected to see in the first place(blood and gore), but was disappointed that it was mostly in these few scenes.] The series overall was pretty interesting from beginning to end, just not an amazing series in my opinion. I am looking forward to the Hellsing OAV though, and hoping that it won't disappoint me like the TV series did.

I was planning on changing it anyway Wink

I would like to see both the English and Japanese cast come back.

I'm like that too with the anime. People made it sound like this great and fantastic series but after I watched it, I was heavily disppointed. I thought the characters where bland and the animation really irked me. Well the music and the episode previews where great Razz

Then I picked up the manga on a whim one day and found the manga to be much more enjoyable than the anime. Now I'm seriously thinking about getting a subscription to Young King Ours.
