Whee! -fangirls- It's awesome! I can't wait to see Tsubasa TV!
But I'm not sure about some things, didn't Clamp NOT finish Tsubasa? |

*Listens to sample* Yep. It's a Sakura and Syaoran anime, all right. That's a good thing.
Yes, I'm a CLAMP songaholic. |

Great. This anime will have awesome music (theme and BGM) but the story will be crap.

To my knowledge, Tsubasa is still serialized in a weekly magazine in Japan, so, no, CLAMP has not finished it yet. But, they hadn't finished X when the movie came out, either.

Having heard Maaya Sakamoto's other songs before, the ending song to Tsubasa was below my expectations. Also, if the X anime was any indication, I have my reservations for the Tsubasa series. I mean seriously, how are they going to end the anime when the manga is only starting to reveal important plot drivers?! Now we're just gonna have to wait for the opening theme song to come out but since it's the person who did the Gravitation songs...I have to wonder what it'll sound like.

I agree with the music part. As for the story, it CAN be good, but I'm worried with the pacing of it. If it starts out like Noir with overabundance of the "same" flashback, I'll be very pissed (though the Tsubasa manga did have quite of bit of flashbacks). |

Meh, the song is quite... average. It's certainly not as awesome as some of her other songs (Gravity and Kuuki to Hoshi come to mind) ... I think it's not necessarily the singing but the very generic nature of the song, but that's probably got to do with the composition of the song rather than the singer herself. And it's not Yoko Kanno doing the composition so I guess it's not the same as all her previous songs (I think Maaya Sakamoto + Yoko Kanno is a really awesome combination, though.)...
I've never read Tsubasa and probably never will because I don't really like CLAMP stuff, but I"m a little worried about the show if Koichi Mashimo is the director... I mean, I thought Noir was fairly good and all, but it definitely had some problems, and Madlax and Meine Liebe were quite bad, really. And I dunno, he just doesn't seem like the kind of person to direct a popular CLAMP series... I'm also not really confident in Bee Train as a studio - they are linked to Production IG but while their animation was pretty nice in Noir, it was honestly speaking quite mediocre (IMO) in Madlax and nothing much in Meine Liebe either... Well, I can't really say much, but Tsubasa surely has to be well-funded, so I hope they can do well with teh animation... |

You guys should listen to the full version. For some reason the clip gives a totally wrong impression. I also thought it was just an okay track after the preview, but the full version sounds a lot better.

I agree. If you go to www.maayasakamoto.net, they have a 'low quality' clip of the full version. (They say low quality, but I thought it sounded fine.) The clip really doesn't do the song justice. I'm looking forward to the anime! |

I know this is breaking away from the main topic, but was X (the manga) ever finished? I've always been a little confused about that. I love the song. Even if the show fails miserably, I think I'll take the time to invest in the soundtrack... |

Wow, I'm frankly very surprised by the reaction to the idea of a Tsubasa anime from the few of you posting here. This is my first post on the site mainly because I feel very strongly about Tsubasa so here I go, this is just my opinion, sorry if it's a little long.
First off, I love Tsubasa the manga. In fact I'm a fairly big fan of CLAMP's work in general. They have a beautiful flow in terms of feeling and character development to say the least, very interesting story and art among the best of today's manga in short. Tsubasa is no except, it has well designed characters, very well done and properly placed plot devices, and in general a very well balanced, rather fast paced, continuing, and developing story. Currently in Japan they are somewhere within Volume 11 and still being release in terms of the Manga by chapters if I remember correctly. I have read up to within volume 8, all that is currently fan subbed. And here we have the anime to come out April 9th in Japan. The Director to be, Koichi Mashimo. I'll be surprised if you haven't seen his work. He more or less directed the vast majority of the entire anime element in Project .hack, that alone is monumental trophy for him to hold up. .Hack//Sign had some of the best directing of any anime as far as I'm concerned, a very powerful dramatic flow to it. He also directed such titles as Madlax and Noir. I never saw Noir, but I have seen a bit of Madlax though and what I saw I can say was nearly no different. A very distinct style. The Musician, Yuki Kajiura. Now let me tell you, I love her music. She too is one of the best in what she does. Having done the music that accompanied Koichi Mashimo in all of the anime in Project .Hack she too should be recognized for that alone. It perfectly matched Machimo's directing, very deep and drawing music the likes of which I have yet to really done quite the same way by any other composer. Her other works include the music of Xenosaga 2 (PS2 game), Madlax, Noir, Chrno Crusade, Gundam Seed, Gundam Seed Destiny, and My-Hime. She really is the compliment to Mashimo's style as well. And the ending theme Loop by Maaya Sakamoto. I just listened to the full version and I am very please with what I hear considering I don’t' know Japanese. She too is very connected with the previously mentioned staff members of course. Serving as the original voice of Aura in all of Project .Hack (Anime and Games) along with many other voice roles even including Aeris from Final Fantasy: Advent Children, The Nothing Card from the Cardcaptor Sakura Second movie, and theme song performances in animes such as Cardcaptor Sakura, Wolf's Rain, and Vision of Escaflowne. She too is quite a big figure. Now, how will this adaptation go I wonder? It's fairly safe to say that the style of course of these great artists will most definitely be reflected in the Tsubasa anime too. I'm pretty sure it's going to be one to remember. The only thing I really worry about is the general flow, if it will be relatively slow in flow as some have complained about .Hack//Sign. As for me I did not seem to think this of .Hack//Sign, it was very well developed and nicely driven in my opinion. Looking at Tsubasa I feel these artists will compliment it nicely though, very little exception I think will really be needed if any for compromise but I trust them. I'm personally expecting it to be one of the best recent adaptations. Now since I'm feeling very out of place and a little like I don't know fully what I'm talking about here still, please do let me know how you guys feel about my opinion. |

Well Steve, I think the main issue most of the people are grappling with is that the basic idea behind Tsubasa is one that is easily done in fanfictions. Not to mention that since all the CLAMP characters and settings are a bit different than the original storylines.
Or, they just may have something against CLAMP. Some people do, though I don't know why. |

Hah, it'd figure. As far as I'm concerned they're very powerful and very good manga artists to be respected. I'm sure you could do fan fictions about their work, it's powerful yet simplistic in its griping aesthetic making it fairly workable, But they are very unique and can do it extremely well. And I can tell they fully understood that some people would be a little disappointed that it was a new storyline yet the feeling is the same, that's basically what CLAMP is about as far as I can say and guess what, I still really like it for just that, so either way I'm sure people will come to like it if they ever liked CLAMP for their style.
I'm glad having posted now, as long as no one else refers to the story as even possibly "crap" especially if they haven't even seen it or have very little idea. |

I think it's still ongoing. I could be wrong though. I can't wait to see how Tsubasa anime turns out. Although I'm disapointed to not see the original voice actors/actresses for the characters, like Rie Tanaka for Chii, and Sakura Tange for Sakura. |

If anyone wants to know, there's a TV trailer for Tsubasa that's found in that fansub website that everyone knows about in the Tsubasa thread.
