It's good to see a couple Yen Press books in the top 20. Hopefully they're doing well .

Maybe this will convince FUNimation to re-release the anime of Sailor Moon in the US already!

If the Novels stayed at number one for 5 or 6 months? maybe, the license price on the anime is one that is almost untouchable, because without infinite return, you would lose astronomically, and FUNimation are the last company who'd walk that Razors Edge

I think that's more Toei than anyone else.

Good for Yotsuba&! to be on the list ( again) it was my first and my all time favorite Manga, and I'm glad Sailor Moon has stayed on the list for as long as it has, maybe this is convincing enough for Funimation to re-dub Sailor Moon for its 20th anniversary.

you are correct on that. Speaking of Toei, are they reading this now?? Hey Toei, is that enough for Sailor Moon to come back to US?? If it isn't, what do you want to make the anime to come back to the US??

The probably want it to be like it was back then. That "family friendly" image, but won't exactly work for the last season. Probably add in more money on top of the deal as well.

Never seen any concrete sources for that, but it's always been the main rumor I've heard.
Then again, just how family friendly is Nephrite being impaled to death with a bunch of spikes as a girl tries to pull them out of his chest, cutting up her hands in the process. Or the whole Zoicite/Fisheye/Uranus x Neptune thing if transgenders really are that big a deal.

The anime was already licensed in the States at one point. I don't see why it shouldn't deserve a second chance.

Why would anyone want to make Sailor Moon into a kid show (like back then) again? That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of, Funimation release DBZ uncut and uncensored. I don't see how Sailor Moon would be any different.

Nostalgia is a powerful thing and telling people old dubs were bad doesn't always work because of it.

Probably to help in the merchandise. Its one thing to say their "cousins" and such, its another to come up with a way for the Starlights to stay one gender throughout. Probably don't want to risk the controversy with that if they want that squeaky clean image. I remember the days I would see Sailor Moon dolls all in the stores near other family friendly merchandise. Times have changed though, but they probably still don't want to chance. That is, if they want to continue the so called "family friendly" image.

What if Toei just made Sailor Moon Kai and Funimation got the rights to that?

I understand, I grew up on edited anime. But I now watch these same anime in uncut form. Geez, a lot of our anime that was previously edited in it's first release are now getting rerelease uncut. DBZ, Voltron (well in it's uncut Japanese form), Macross (ADV's redub over Robotech), and Gatchaman even got uncut rerelease. I don't see how releasing Sailor Moon in it's true uncut format would be any different.

Well they either can show it on Adult Swim (G4 would also work) or don't broadcast it on public TV if they want controversy. I wouldn't mind if they broadcast Sailor Moon online or on Hulu (episodes can be shown every week). When the Sailor Moon manga, and merchandise came out in US recently. We still don't have the anime, and people still bought the merchandise and the manga when the anime is still not license, I don't think uncut version of Sailor Moon is going to effect the sales of the merchandise.
