Must say I am interested! I like the 70s shojo looking cover and the Area 88 OVA was great so at the very least I will be checking this out of the library.

It's interesting how it has such a classically shoujo-style for a seinen comic. Well, this might make up a bit for the Gosick light novels dying with Tokyopop.

It actually crosses over with Vampire Bund? Thats surprising and unexpeted, but kinda cool.

Seems pretty interesting.
That's exactly what I need, yet another manga in omnibus form. It's getting harder and harder to keep up with all these releases. I've got 20+ volumes sitting on my shelf waiting to be read. And, that's not including old series I've picked up to check out. That's just my "reading" stuff. Not to mention 8 light novels, make that 9 when I pick up the next Haruhi hc. I really need to stop reading so much. I blame it all on DC's "New 52", I've been letting American comics take up way too much of my time lately! |

Wait if she's Sherlock's niece that means Mycroft had a child. That's... kinda scary, actually. No wait: "her parents are away in India, leaving her behind in the care of maids and servants?" Mycoft is married! And apparently left the country, and abandoned his daughter to the servants, which I find pretty much impossible to believe (the leaving for India, not abandoning his own child bit) considering in Sherlock's own words (as Wikipedia assures me is the exact quote):"Occasionally he is the British government [...] the most indispensable man in the country."
What exactly are you doing in India, that's so damn important Mycroft? Oh! The actual plot of the series, I can pay attention to that too. See I don't have a hard time believing that any child with the Holmes DNA is a freaking genius (and probably some sort of bi-polar), but this: "And her facility with logic is reminiscent of her uncle, the eminent Sherlock Holmes himself" I have trouble believing, because I don't see Mycroft letting his child grow up to be using inductive reasoning that so resembles his little brother's style. Maybe that's why Mycroft abandoned her. He's given up on the child, for she will just be a miniature Sherlock who will waster her life away solving petty things like crimes using actual effort, when there are governments to run. Or to run while hiding from actual work. Back to the India thing, Mycroft you are a lazy ass, and are astoundingly intelligent enough to make yourself so valuable that no one can say anything when you spend all day probably doing the late 19th century equivalent of reading fanfic in your pajamas all day. Why are you going to visit another country? Especially for long enough that you abandon you child to the servants. And back to the wife thing, what? I am amused that the second paragraph of the description reads to me like the adventures of adorable smart girl, her loyal guard-dog, and her gay uncles. As they solve crimes. Okay, enough of that, let's read more of the description. "The first omnibus volume will include a story arc featuring the character Mina Tepes from Nozomu Tamaki's Dance in the Vampire Bund manga." Huh. That... That I was not expecting. How does Vampires coincided with Sherlock Holmes? Also, I'm actually mildly interested in this series, I hope the Vampire Bund chapters aren't so... "Vampire Bund-y". Please no naked underage girls splayed out in an overly sexual way? |

I almost wanna support this in hopes that someone will be generous enough to bring back Area 88. But even if it's a hit, we all know that ain't happening.

I will deffinantly be picking this up, I love all the old sherlock holmes stories, and on top of that I've been looking for another good mystery series to read aside from Case Closed, this may just be it.
Also an arc guest staring bund's Mina Tepes, hmm...wonder how that'll work out. |

Seven seas... I have supported you for years. If you bring back Area 88... I will buy EVERY SINGLE VOLUME. Even with a crappy translation. Plus I'll probably be picking up this first volume of Christie High tension because I like Mysteries (sp?) and LOVE the Vampire Bund mythos.

The press release referred to an "all ages version of Mina Tepes" so I guess that means she'll be decent? Family-friendly? I don't know more than the very basic basic gist of the Sherlock Holmes stories, but I enjoyed reading your post/rant on the topic :D The cute retro-looking art is enough to get me looking forward to reading the series! |

Is the manga related to the anime? Or is it completely different?

The names are different (it looks like in the original version, the character has no relation to Sherlock Holmes) and the anime came out 30 years before the manga started, so I'm guessing they're not related. I'd never heard of the anime before, so thanks for pointing out the possible connection! |
