opinions sought on this new productio ig show "otogi zoshi" which media blasters begin issuing at the end of march... the streaming clips on the japanese tv broadcast site dont work too well for me ... anyone seen any episodes, can you comment on the visual style and story depth etc... it looks like it goes from historical to modern-day setting ... interests me.

Eh...it's all right. Starts out very strong, and most of the Heian Arc is excellent until it devolves into your average eeeevil villain plot, and the Tokyo Arc just...sucks. Story, characterization, animation, all go straight downhill. Especially disappointing since the Heian Arc contains one of the single best animation sequences I've seen on a TV budget - the tsunami scene in episode...6? Shinya Ohira rules.

But fortunately the Heian Arc is entirely self contained, so I'd recommend just buying the first couple DVDs.
