The real irony here is that SD Gundam did quite well on Cartoon Network.

I think its pretty obivious why the ratings are the lowest ever in the Gundam series.

I think that's unfortunate. I like it a hell of a lot better than I liked Gundam X.

I was under the impression it was a Gundam for little kids. The little 6 year old I babysat loved it.

Gundam X as robbed, it was on the same time as Eva for part of it run, not to mention the network moved it from a good time spot to a bad one. I've seen roughly half of it and I think it's pretty good. It's no Zeta or Victory, but I think it's better than ZZ or should I say ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I haven't seen the second season, so if I'm missing something here, please let me know.

Because G Gundam was an excellent series that was unfortunatly written off by many fans because it was different, and because the first few episodes were weak. But Japanese fans are used to the first few episodes of Gundam series being kind of lame. It's all about rising action.

Yes, but Evangelion was no ratings powerhouse either. It was pretty much a bomb when it initially ran in primetime. But once it started airing in reruns, people started watching it and it became a sensation. Kinda like the original Star Trek.

And Gundam X was moved from its time slot because of bad ratings-the move didn't cause it to fail, its failure is what caused the move. The network simply didn't want to devote prime airtime to a show that was doing so poorly, so they stuck it on saturday mornings and left it there to die.

:rolls eyes:

Evangelion aired October 4th, 1995, to March 27th, 1996. Gundam X aired from April 5th, 1996, to December 27th, 1996. Where does Evangelion come in and steal ratings from Gundam X!? This is the oldest arguement used to prove that Gundam X was killed off because of Evangelion...but that's simply not true. Gundam X got killed off because it just couldn't match the popularity of Wing. Better story doesn't always guarantee a successful run.

In that case, how come CN didn't pick up the second season?

I'm slightly disappointed. I could make anti-UC fan remarks until I'm blue in the fingertips, but that wouldn't change anything. It was probably too different and too kiddified for the fans to think anything positive of, even though the fight in the last episode was just pure awesomeness.

Just goes to show you that whenever a VA thinks her character isn't being developed/portrayed well means that the show ain't too good.

Dunno, but I wouldn't count it out yet.

TZ: Speaking of younger shows: SD Gundam. Bandai said Season 2 would be airing on Cartoon Network, and it hasn't shown up.

SA: I would imagine that it will air. That was one of our most successful Gundam shows, but I don't know where we'd put it.

Well I personally never liked SD Gundam at all, so I'm not surprised. Now heres what I could never understand, why Gundam X did so bad. I think its one of the best Gundam series out there.
