Sailor Moon and Pokemon are two franchises that will never die. Ever.
Not that that's a bad thing.

Sailor Moon beat out Negima and FMA during their debut weeks. That's crazy.
I'm also surprised that Viz's half-assed Pokemon release got on the list. The entire thing is just ridiculous. It's straight out of the 90s. Large trim size, chapters straight from the Japanese magazine (because Black and White aren't collected into volumes yet, but Viz wanted a quick cash grab), etc.

Nah. Given how Sailor Moon was a gateway to the world of anime to most people, that title taking the top slot again is probably expected.
Negima beating the penultimate volume of FMA on the other hand...

The describes the English version of Pokemon in general, really. Never liked Viz's censoring/changes of the manga... I just stick to other means of reading them.

Already read my CSV v1, and still waiting on my restock of SM v1.
I read the first vol. of PB&W at Barnes and Noble, and thought it was only ok, I considered buying it, but $5 for two chaps is pretty steep, I think I'll pass.

I can't help but wonder how many readers picked up Sailor Moon after reading Red Hood & The Outlaws. I would gather not too many, but the thought itself is amusing.

If people in America read manga, then yes, people still read American comics, since there are still more American comics readers in America than there are reading manga.
Although if you believe that the number of people who still read American comics is insignificantly low enough to ask, then you might as well as ask that people still read manga in America too.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon holdin' strong in First,
Codename: Sailor V close behind in Second,
and One Piece nippin' at Naruto's heels in Sixth.
I approve of this SO much!!!

Not surprised to see Sailor Moon and Sailor V at the top

But wouldn't those who read Red Hood & the Outlaws be a completely different kind of audience from those who would read Sailor Moon?

To be fair, there could be a thousands copy difference between One Piece and Naruto. We don't know if it's "nippin at the heels" of Naruto since we don't have the numbers. Same with Sailor V being close behind Sailor Moon.

That's true, but considering that One Piece is often at the bottom of this list (when it does make it, that is) and both Naruto & Bleach frequently make the Top 5; even if the margin is "a thousand copies," for One Piece, that's still pretty darn close.

Also true, but most people (myself included) pre-ordered/bought both at the same time. Even if you take into account that some people pre-ordered/bought one or the other, that margin would still be slim.
