Even tho I'm a fan of Prince of Tennis, I think New Prince of Tennis could've been handled a different way and then an anime could've been done. It introduces too many characters (who don't get any or much character development atm) and skips too much time & interactions that could've happened between the characters.
So when we get this new anime, it's gonna be mostly filler events to flesh out the characters while giving us what little bit that's in the manga?

MM i agree
Also one thing that annoys me is that ryoma seems to be considerable more weak than he was in the national tournament. I mean he beats a guy that never lost and suddenly we are supposed to believe some other random middle schooler is going to be some kind of competition for him?

Right? Apparently these random nationals level high schoolers are uber stronger than them.
... What? I missed the power gauge in this ever since the new manga started.

On other forums, I have heard people expressing surprise. Why? PoT is a big franchise, and the fact that the new manga is getting an anime is to be expected.

In this new series Ryoma hasn't even played a single game yet. He was eliminated from the national group right off the bat for not participating in the first test games. Not going into more spoilers for those who havn't read it but so far Ryoma is hardly in it.
I like the idea of the anime and I hope they do add filler that explains more about the characters as long as it doesn't go on for seasons like in Naruto or Bleach. While I agree that the series is over the top with the character strengths, it wouldn't be very interesting if they were weak opponents everywhere.
