Torrance, CA, December 15th, 2004 – Yamato USA, the North American subsidiary of Yamato Co. Ltd., is exceptionally proud to announce that Yamato’s 1/12 Scale ATM-09-ST Scopedog Action Figure has been nominated for 2004Toy of the Year at ToyboxDX (http://toyboxdx.com/).

They forget to mention that the nominations are made by fans, not Toybox DX. Being nominated isn't really saying much since anything that fits Toybox DX's format (lots of diecast and PVC) has been nominated. Doesn't really seem like something worth writing a press release about, and I'm pretty sure other Yamato products were nominated as well.

But that's not a big deal. This is what got me laughing:

Voting for ToyboxDX’s 2004 Toy of the Year begins today, December 15. Visit ToyboxDX at http://toyboxst.inwards.com/toty/ to cast your vote for Yamato’s ATM-09-ST Scopedog or any of the other fine nominees.

Heh, too bad TBDX pulled a big screw you and decided to make the voting process only open to their forum members who joined before the nomination process completed. Crazy thing is, you didn't need to be a member to nominate or second a nomination (I nominated a Panda Z figure btw). Might have been in the instrucitons to sign up, but if it was it wasn't very clear, or else Yamato USA, myself, and others wouldn't have made the mistake (and easy to do since the previous awards didn't require membership).

So, yeah, I guess Yamato USA isn't getting the extra votes they were hoping for by sending out this press release. Oh well, maybe next year. They already got a glowing review from Roger Harkavy for this figure, what more could they want? Wink
