I'm looking to buy a new anime and was wondering if you guys and girls had any suggestions. Here is a list of anime I've watched and enjoyed:
Berserk
Excel Saga
Full Metal Panic
Neon Genesis Evangelion (plus both movies)
Outlaw Star
Perfect Blue
Princess Mononoke
RahXephon (plus the movie)
X (tv not movie)
Yu Yu Hakusho

Here is what I've seen and disliked:
Saber Marionette R
Akira (I know I'm gonna get flamed for that)
Dragonball, DBZ, DBGT

So based on that I would appreciate any suggestions you can give. Thanks.

With the whole akira thing and Dbz thing, i agree i really think akira was poorly done and they didn't put enough character development into it. Dbz is just.... (shudders).

See rouroni kenshin, Samurai X(ova)
if your into kiddy kinda stuff try inuyasha(tv)
Plus my personal favorite movie My neihbor totoro, it is a kiddy show and all that but its my dieing favorite!

If you liked Mononoke, you might want to be on the lookout for Nausicaa, which is to be released in Region 1 in February. Similar theme and art.

If you have not tryed Ghost in the Shell, the movie and the TV show...that would be a good choice. Hellsing is another, if you like vampires. If you really want an indepth story-line, i would watch Twelve Kingdoms. There are all kinds of choices...a good qustion would be:

What type of anime do you like, samurai, mecks, etc.??????

Your list is pretty good already (except Perfect Blue). Any one of the above should keep you busy for a while Smile, especially Yu Yu Hakusho... lol. It's as long as (if not longer) than Inuyasha.

I myself suggest the anime series Hellsing. =D I believe it's one of the best ones out their though again that's just me. Of course this series has blood, semi-gore, vampires, and not to forget large guns. ^^ And the manga is also very good.

Other suggestions would be the Tenchi series. Anime dazed I'm a dork like that. Though, I found Tenchi GXP to be a decent anime even though it didn't show much of the actual Tenchi. >_>

Also I suggest you check out Samurai Deeper Kyo, which I found out to be a good anime though I somewhat enjoy the manga more. >_> But it's nice and their is alot of good animation in it. ^^ Plus touching on Ninja/Samuria animes you might want to see Ninja Scroll the series if you enjoyed any of the Ninja Scroll movies.

Well, erm that's all I can think of on the top of my head so I'll stop rambling on now. =D

Hey i can't blame (or flame) you for not liking the DBZ stuff or Akira.DBZ is overhyped anyway,Akira wasn't bad and Saber marionette was ok. If you like the gals n guns
genre, i would highly suggest the Mezzo TV series. (Mezzo forte and Kite are both good OVAs, but you must be over 18 yrs to check 'em out. Embarassed )

Retro futuristic genres? I would go with Giant Robo and Last Exile. Dysotopian Anime? how about the New fist of the Northstar series , Demon city shinjuku, now and then here and there,Gunparade March and maybe Blue Gender?

As for Superheroesque stuff, checkout SCYRED (it's like X-Men but better than the American cartoon.) Of course Guyver and Gatchaman 94 are my top picks.

checkout the My Anime section for other reccomendations, which i'm sure you may enjoy. Cool

Well, theres alot of Great anime out there, so I can't name them all, but here are a few, that I really like'd:

If you like your Anime wierd you should tjek out Lain, and if you really like that stuff, try Boogiepop Phantom.

Then there's the fantasy anime;and here you simply have to see Escaflowne people always talk about Records Of Lodoss War, as if it's the best Fantasy Anime out there, but i have to say, that I really did't like it that much, and Escaflowne would be my choise for best Fantasy anime....

Theres alot more out there, but I really Have to get some sleep now, and I can't think clear, so thats it for now, good night every boddy!!!!!

Seeing as you enjoyed Excel Saga, I'd recommend Fooly Cooly. Also, you enjoyed Perfect Blue, so definitely check out Satoshi Kon's latest project, Paranoia Agent.

the series was cheaply done crap, and they got someone to completely ^%%$ up the story, so dont even bother wasting your money on it. the manga however is pure awsomeness. SHAME on Gonzo for messing up such a masterpiece. thank god Hirano interfered and put an end to the mutilation of his work

Well I have a relatively longer list yet i'll sum it up in the end.
Trigun, cowboy bebop, knight hunters (is ok), bastard irrisponsible captain taylor, Tenchi muyo (prety much all), noir, Hellsing, Inuyasha (if you are into that), blood the last vampire, rocord of lodoss war chronicles of the heroic knight, X the movie (that concludes the series prety well), ninja scroll (all), ghost in the shell (if you can't get into the movies try the tv), those who hunt elves (prety funny), FLCL, night watcher, Samurai Search For the sword, ah my goddess (kind of a love thing) Love hina (speaking of love thing a must for the comedy if nothing else), gunsmith cats, legend of black heaven, Kite, mezzo, escaflowne, Ranma 1/2 (ongoing old school comedy yet it gets repetative), nadesico, ra-xephon, read or die, and Noir.

That prety much sums it up from what I can remember seeing recently and will recomend. As I said before I will sum up the more important ones, although all good this should be priority.
cowboy bebop, Love Hina, FLCL, Noir, and Hellsing.
Hope I helped.

if youl iked the idea of mixing fantasy and reality in Perfect BLue, you might enjoy Kon's other works: Millenium Actress and the TV series Paranoia Agent. both are excellent.
Noir is definitely great too and so is Cowboy Bebop.

If you liked Excel Saga a lot, then try shows like Puni puni poemy or Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi , or if you want something a bit lighter -Galaxy Angel or Azumanga Daioh.

Trigun is a lot of fun, and Spirited away is another fantastic Miyazaki masterpiece.
