that's sad but not unexpected
their business model was out of date years ago
I hoped they would do well as they were one of the first major retailers to support the manga industry

reminds me of kodak and how they didn't listen to anyone

Ugh, that sucks so bad. I was hoping the online would stay up, with a members rewards plus card it's actually worth using.

Now what store will all the unwashed, black t-shirted youths of America sit on the floor, clog the aisles, talk loudly, and steal content without rebuke from?

Hey, I sit on the comfy chairs they provide! (And I regularly buy from them... Huh, I might not be the type of youth you're referring to.)

Good bye, old buddy old pal. You will be missed very, very, very much. Crying or Very sad

Yozza, I spent yesterday researching the history of what went down, and yeah, not a big surprise now. Kinda sucks how long I was ignorant of the corporate shenanigans.

I was just at my Borders on Saturday (taking an inventory of what Manga they have in case of liquidations), and I was making small talk with the employees who've seen me there for years. Didn't know what to say so I settled on, "I wish you luck in getting a new job if it really happens."

Oh well, here come the liquidation deals.

If you paid for Border Rewards Plus, don't chuck the card just yet. You could still take advantage of the 10% off during the liquidation (if the liquidators honor that discount), or ask politely if you can get your money back (make sure you fish out the receipt when you paid for the card upgrade to at least not cause headaches for the employees.)

I know how that goes lol. I have to get all my books/manga from amazon. Usually cheaper and almost always free shipping anyway...

Most of it will be the bent and beatup copies the manga cows read complete with the body oil stain band on the side of the pages of the book.

No dice on the money back for the card, if iworkatborders is to be believed. Employees don't remotely have that authority and the GMs where told to keep pushing them as recent as May.

But yeah, the 10% in liquidations I think might be possible, at least that what I'm aiming for.
