Once again Todd, nice opening captions. Panty and Stocking still sucks anyway, and I wonder if anyone truly hates Watterson for being reclusive. I certainly hope Nintendo gets it through their thick heads that we don't always want Mario and Link's next new hit game.

Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy: Are they serious? Wow, I really can't figure out how to put my reaction into words here.

Lost Angel Chronicles: Releases like these only further disprove the stupid statement that JRPGs are an irrelevant genre. Speaking of Exe-Create, I recall seeing Across Age numerous times in the App store. Some mentioned it was bad, others liked it.

Metal Max 2: Wow the screenshot really makes me want to ask some questions about the gameplay. For example, is it just one character against multiple enemies all the time?

EVERYONE BUY IT

No! Denied! Haha Razz

Call of Suarez: Just for fun, I'll say it, since your caption is just too tempting to resist: "Whew, thank goodness for anime games. Who needs that stupid Western crap anyway? Lol." I'm sure Catherine and El Shaddai will be of more relevance, truthfully. It's all I ever hear my friends talk about and what they've been talking about for weeks. Anime hyper

Thanks for honoring hungry Wii owners/ RPG fans with another Operation Rainfall plug, Todd! Happy that another online source is continuing to acknowledge the movement and support it, when it at least a couple other media outlets seem to think Operation Rainfall & U.S. localization prospects are completely dead in water; apparently, all it takes to shut up and forever discourage some people is a patronizing PR tweet/facebook-post that goes along the lines of "there are no plans at this time".

It seems that Operation Rainfall took a bit of a gamble releasing this-- the transparency's wonderful, and very reassuring, but I'm sure there will somewhat fewer letters going out because of the info. (Even I don't have that much of a drive now to write a letter regarding The Last Story, and it's my most desired of the 3 games!) Still, they have confidence in the source-- though they say that they haven't been able to corroborate the source of info, they've been able to verify the source's identity. Dammit, this rumor better be true... I don't think my heart can take much more drama over these games.

You gotta wonder what Nintendo is going to do, having blown off the RPG'ers, hardcore gamers, etc., in favor of families and causal gamers… just to see them run off and play Angry Birds and Cut The Rope on their iPods and iPhones.

I can't remember the last Wii-exclusive game I bought. Hell, the only game I ever play on my Wii anymore is Rock Band 3, and yes, I know it would be way better on a 360 or PS3. My kids are also bored with Wii… 9yo has reverted back to PS2 and is kicking ass on Rez (this week, he's routinely finishing Area 5 without losing any lives).

The Wii was our first Nintendo system and I suspect it'll be our last. All the games I'm excited about at this point are for iPad anyways (Deathsmiles, Final Fantasy Tactics). Wii U is only going to be as good as its software support, and you've got to wonder about that… even with the success of the Wii hardware, third parties couldn't really make a go of it on Wii, except for shovelware minigame collections that soured everyone on the system.

I'd love to see Ys on Steam, personally. As cool as it is that XSEED's giving the PSP ports a lot of love, I'd rather play the originals on a big screen.

Does anyone know if it's difficult to nab all of the Achievements in Child of Eden? If it won't take that long, I might rent it.

We'll be seeing that with the Kinect and the Move too. Since both Microsoft and Sony want to push their motion control units, encouraging 3rd-party companies to make games that make use of them, these 3rd-party companies that don't know how to make anything but minigame collections are going to be in a sticky situation in the near future.

Is that white tiger in the game because if it is I'll just play that part. Just kidding. Finally some screens for the FF Rhythm game. Looks interesting. Y'know I may consider this, but I know something is going to happen and I'm going to get pissed. I love rhythm games. If this is another reason for me to buy a sweet 3DS then so be it.

Phew for a minute I thought it was a Suikoden game. The designs took me off guard. Children of Eden looks good. I've already recommended this for fall semester at my job.

I see the Kinect hype machine has been paying off (Critically at least) for Child of Eden. A two hour game with no multiplayer being sold at full retail pricing is nothing short of disgraceful. That it has been seemingly getting such an easy ride at review is a sad indictment of the gaming media of today. Thankfully, looking at how little it has sold shows that the public at large aren't nearly so easily suckered in.

Child of Eden should have been a downloadable title priced no higher than REZ currently is on XBLA.

Well, it's not Call of Duty, so that pretty much explains that.

And who is that, exactly? I'm drawing a blank thinking of third parties who've tried and succeeded with original motion control games on Wii. EA Sports did some casual sports games (the "All-Play" football titles), and Namco tried to Wii-ify "Soul Calibur" as a dungeon crawler with Wiimote sword-swinging, and neither really panned out. And original concepts like "No More Heroes" and "Zack and Wiki" seem to have completely flamed out.

Granted, third-party support for Kinect seems more hopeful, with "Child of Eden" and Harmonix's "Dance Central". The PS3 Move on the other hand… has that officially been relegated to "joke" status yet?

Depends on what you'd count as "successful." Do you mean ones who have figured out how to make responsive controls that couldn't have possibly been done on any other system and trying to find new ways to make video games? Or do you mean ones who have figured out how to market well and let their games sell well on the Wii, even if they don't integrate motion controls as well as they could be?

The ones who have been able to make good, responsive Wii controls (besides Nintendo) have been Ubisoft (Red Steel 2, the Rabbids series), Capcom (Zack & Wiki, Monster Hunter Tri), and several minor studios (World of Goo, Muramasa: The Demon Blade). The ones who have been able to push sales on the Wii (again, besides Nintendo) are Capcom (Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles), SEGA (Sonic Colors, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing), EA (The Sims Wii subseries, Boom Blox), and Disney Interactive (Epic Mickey).

And hey, I said that Sony is encouraging 3rd-party companies to use the Move. I didn't say that they're getting a bunch of support. Of course, the point is that the entire industry wants to move towards motion controls, whether developers have mastered it or not. In other words, what you're presently seeing on the Wii is going to soon spread to all of the other systems. The next generation of systems will be interesting to watch from a distance, both in business decisions by the major companies and reactions to the hardcore gamers, whose rageful reactions are always a hoot to watch.

By the way, I would classify myself as a "casual" gamer.

Has anybody played the Catherine demo? How do you feel about the tower climbing?

I found it really stressful, and in the demo you are only allowed to play on easy. I was looking forward to this game, but I'm not so sure now. :/

I liked it. I died once on each level but once I got the mechanics down it wasn't that hard for me. Really looking forward the full game.

I'm with you, DerekTheRed. I like some time to think about puzzles, not being chased by immediate death. That's part of why I mostly play turn-based RPGs. Here I think stress is the point of the game.
