My favorite Shinbo show is about a girl vampire. It's just not this one.
That SHAFT styling just didn't work for this show. The camera sweeps and the THIS IS IMPORTANT zooms just felt like they were trying to convince me that what was going on was serious business. Shouldn't the plot be handling that task in a show like this? It almost rates at Speed Grapher level in terms of begging the viewer to take it seriously.

Pretty sure Alpha LaGrange is an alias, and Carmen Smith probably sounds like Colleen since it probably is her. A lot of these actors don't want these shows attached to their names, for obvious reasons. Another of the actors is listed as "Vlad Imir," obvious giveaway more than the others.

I found the intense camera sweeps/and jumping around to be WAY OVER DONE in this series also. UGH. That's my real gripe for this one. I dunno... after that it was entertaining, not a masterpiece definitely. Would I watch more if it came out? Sure. It was kinda cruel to introduce so many new characters/and that weird plot twist in the end... and call it good. *sigh* Very cruel indeed.

I did consider that ("Alpha Lagrange" does sounds awfully fishy, doesn't it?), but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt in the review. Given some of the content, I can certainly understand why some VAs wouldn't want their real names associated with it.

I'd guess that Alpha LaGrange is an alias just because it seems a bit too unusual and/or cool sounding to be a real name.

Call it what you will but Eric Vale's voice is way too easy to identify and he had no problem playing Desert Punk's Kanta, this is hardly worse (crude humor worse) then that.
Also, I surprised no one is mentioning the Cover Art Funimation used. It's very good and artsy, I liked it, it makes her look like a scarlet rose.

According to Wikipedia (of course we can't completely trust that) says Alpha LaGrange is Eric Vale.
Having just read the review I agree for the most part with the review. It is a flaw series, but I did enjoy watching the series. I haven't listened to the Japanese dub so I can't comment on this one. Even though it was not completely faithful to the manga, I did not think it was a terrible adaption overall.

I'm enjoying the manga, but this anime adaptation didn't live up to my expectations. Shinbo overdid it.

I'm sad the review didn't at least mention Yuuki Aoi's remarkable performance as Mina on the Japanese track. She flawlessly voices the entire range of Mina's emotions, despite still being a teen-ager herself. I think it's her best performance since her work as Murasaki in Kure-nai.
There are still those of us out here who buy R1 releases and listen to the Japanese track.

i watched the streams on fuin's site and was actually fairly surprised by the show, yes it does go to lolicon territory but nothing to creepy or bad. This show kinda of reminded me of interview with a vampire on some levees... and I do mean some levels only.

It is not surprising your forgiveness can extend so far, but it's one I can not share. I find this practice uncomfortable, especially since I am prone to take a greater interest in a series for VAs I enjoy. Personally, I'd rather they not do the project at all rather than try to deploy a ridiculous escape avenue.
I'm going to stream an episode or two of this (or watch it all on Netflix, should it get there) just to see if this vampire tale is something I'm interested in. The last thing I want is a series riding on the coattails of the current vampire crap spewing out of Hollywood... again.
As for the "loli" debate, I've already dismissed the cancerous opinion having found most of those spreading it are the same who get upset at anime featuring little girls wearing swimsuits during a beach episode. This review is another example in excellence and shows why Theron is my favorite reviewer, since his candid approach to the issue lacked any personal opinion while being understanding enough to describe elements some of his readers will find offensive. It's not often people say it, but thank you for this, given how touchy the subject is around here.
Personally, I've no rush to see this one, but it's nice to know Theron put a "B" grade on it. That's a good sign I'll enjoy it once I do get around to it.
Now, for a complete question out of the blue: How do you pronounce "Theron"? This has been bugging me for well over a year now, and it's just time to ask.

The two episodes alone that I saw featured enough naked loli to definitely satisfy such a "loli" debate. This isn't just little girls wearing swimsuits.
Anyway, my issue with this show was that the writing was really stupid. I remember in the second episode in particular, Mina has been built up as this super powerful vampire, but she ends up needing rescue from this super weak spider/vampire-hybrid thing? Why? Also, why spiders and lizards in the first place? Why not actual vampires? So dumb.

I wasn't crazy about that part either. I didn't think the spider was dumb myself, it was part of that group that was after Mina thought from I can remember that part was anime-only.
