Anyone else watching it? What are your thoughts?
________ If you haven't been watching it and want to know what it's about, it's the Count of Monte Cristo. I don't remember the actual story involving the Count of Monte Cristo, but in any case this is a futuristic horror-ish type deal. Two guys, Parisian nobles, friends from childhood, meet this Monte Cristo-Hakushaku and the one, Albert, is really fascinated with him. Franz, however, is very wary, because something about the Count is just too strange... ________ If you haven't seen it yet, I suggest you check it out, at least to see the art style. It's really wierd, but you get used to it after the first episode and it's actually quite addictive. A good break from some of the more formulaic anime coming out right now. |

Also check this thread.
As for myself, I've seen the first episode and found it to be pretty intersting. The art is quite unique indeed, though it seemed to make me think my eyes were playing tricks on me at some points. I've read the orginal "The Count of Monte Cristo" and enjoyed that book very much. I haven't seen the most recent live action movie rendition and know nothing of it, but I find this anime a bit refreshing, what with the adaptation of one of my favorite novels. I will surely add this to my collection once it is released domestically. |
