I actually enjoyed reading Pretear. It was fun and I love how adorable Shin is. The review was disappointing to read but I'm glad I bought this one.

I agree. I love Pretear and think it's shaping up quite nicely. Also, there was something factual wrong in the review. Himeno doesn't cry all the time (the last Pretear did that, but not Himeno). Himeno is very tomboyish. She hit Hayate!!
Again, I love Pretear. The second novel was great (Comfirmed a theory of mine). I can't wait to see what how the Leafe Knights and Himeno win!

Pretear is very underrated, both the anime and the manga. The manga my be sketchy at times, but I did enjoy reading it. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but Pretear should be worth a look.

I like it, though its very similar in a lot of ways to Fushigi Yuugi. Girl goes to another dimension. 7 boys help her out, she's destined to save the world etc etc.
But its still a good series, i haven't read the third book yet...but i definetly like what i see with the first 2.

Yep, it's most likely true that this anime/manga has shoujo cliches attached all over it. Even from the opening theme, you can tell that it's got the usual shoujo written all over it. It's actually quite sailormoon-ish. However, in spite of the lack of creativity of this title, I have admit I did enjoy it<considering that i am a girl after all and i'm a fairy tale fanatic>. If not for the funny side stories, I wouldn't dare to go on watching it.

Pretear is not as bad as everyone says it is, I enjoyed the characters Himeno her self serving attitude,Hiyate for his short temper,Sasamye's gentleness and Miyune's dimwitted prima-donna and quite cocky attitude. Most of the other characters suck though and the story overall is pretty weak especially the premise of her deceased mother being a statue of a flower and the princess of darkness being Hiyate's former girlfriend.
The Dub is okay but the episodes get off to a weak start episode five was terrible, but episode 6 and 11 were good.

I know this is a very old thread but I just thought I'd post anyways.
I'm currently reading the manga and I've seen the anime. I love it all! It's no surprise, though. I'm a huge fan of Sailor Moon. I do think the review was a bit bad.
True it was a little cliched but that's part of the whole fun. It would be awesome to be very original but sometimes the old stuff is always good. And the deal with all the handsome men, if you've read the manga you'll understand that that was the author's purpose. She wanted an anime full of cute guys. Many of them have no big roles in it but they all are needed.
I think instead of reviewing the first book they way the person did they should have waited until further in the story to say anything about it. It bugs me when people review something and they don't know the whole of it yet. They don't even bother.
I liked how the story was based off of Snow White. And as a writer of stories where girls have to save worlds they never knew of I think this was pretty well done. Although Himeno was really only saving her own world, not Leafenia(sp?).
Oh yes and Shin is definitely the most adorable little guy ever!
