A request, if I may to anyone attending AnimeBoston.
As you may have read on AnimeBostons forums, I placed a post asking for people who would like to serve on a few panels alongisde me. I simply don't have the connections to get people to be on the panels.
The panels are:
Getting anime on t.v. - I know, ADV hs since released their channel, but not everyone lives in Philly. Looking to talk about what's on, what's being edited, and why it's so hard to sell anime on telvision.
The misconceptions of anime - This has been talked about a lot on this website. I hope to make it a point to get a lot of adults in this panel as well as their kids.
Culture Shock - Discussing customs that you see in anime that seem strange or downright shocking to us in America.
Finding the right anime for you - Need around 4 or 5 panelists for this one. Again, I hope to get the parents of the kids watching the anime in the room and have them tell us what they like and have us suggest an anime to them.
If anyone would like to be on one of these panels, please respond here. We'll have to email each other as I have to email AnimeBoston to add you to the panel members list. Also, in order to be on the panel you have to be a member (you have to pre-register).

Well, I will be attending Anime Boston, as I am a good 2 blocks away , but the truth is, I have never been on a panel, what exactly would I need to do?

-_-;; I can't believe the muscial guest is Miyu. They expect us to listen to two Polish girls sing glorified karaoke? You're kidding me. Even a small ass con like Nan Desu Kan could get like, Mari Iijima or something.

Perhaps it was just more difficult for them, a first year, small con in an area that usually does not have a con at all... I am not so sure they know how many people will be coming. Although, I assume there will be many...

Although I am only going to be speaking on panels, I think I can say that, where they are a first time con, and they are not that big compared to most other cons (although they are considered big here in Boston as they are the only all anime con in the area), they're probably holding back a little so as to not get in trouble.
Besides, I don't know where other cons are, but Boston is halfway around the world from Japan, and it's quite expensive to get people out here. Most of the guests I have seen hail from and work for US anime companies.
There is a forum and one of the posts in that forum has to do with what you want to see at the con. Check it out if you can. I think it's too late to get Mari Iijima (and I would've loved to have heard that), though.
To be on a panel, you have to know something about the topic. I was looking into starting an anime station, so I put in for the television panel, and the other 3 panels relate to that. The culture shock panel and the finding the right anime panel are where I really need help.
Where I work 3rd shift, I don't get out much. I don't belong to any clubs and I don't get to see any anime unless it's on early morning or I go out and buy it. As such, there's a lot of anime I haven't seen, and so the material I can work from is limited.
That's not to say that I don't know enough to sit on the panel, but I know there's a lot more out there that I haven't seen, and if I'm going to do a panel, I'd like to do the panel justice and get it right.
And so, if you're interested, let me know.

*grin* Ms. Iijima hails from sunny California where she now lives. Too bad. Maybe I'll suggest it for next year.

Well, I have never been great at public speaking, but I might be able to help out with the Finding the right anime panel... I have not seen as much as I would like, but I know what most series are about, or what kind of story or anime it is... I also like basically every type of anime except the card-collecting type... so I would not be very byassed to anything... I don't know, if you really need help, I think I could do it, but it is really up to you if you want to take the chance... how long would it be for? like an hour??

Sakechan: I'm sure there will be a gripe session. I'm all for getting Iijima there, so let them know!
Panels usually run for an hour, and I see no reason why the panels I listed would run longer. I was told that you must be pre-registered in order to be on a panel. I have to wait til the end of the month but I will be registering before the deadline.
For anyone interested, the guest list is on-line. The forum section is heating up as people are now talking about specific events they'd like to run or see (I'm looking forward to the Battletech game). There's even a friends forum if you would like to be able to hang out with a group at the convention.
