Hi,
I wasn't sure where or how I should contact the encyclopedist for adding new languages to the rating system, so I thought I'd try here. I was wondering if you could add Chinese as one of the versions that I've read for manga, since I read almost all of my manga in Chinese, and not English. Thanks, Ames |

You are not the first one asking for Chinese as a language option; at least two senior encyclopedists have kept asking. See Dan's explanation over this issue. |

Thanks for the link Had no clue the topic's been brought up..... but that's not surprising seeing it was under the "Option for Russian" thread! *lol* Either way, thanks for the information!

Hmm, sorry to bring up an old thread, but I too wondered why Chinese wasn't available in the ratings list and found this thread in the forums. From the explaination provided by Dan, I assume that to add a language, the entire Encyclopedia entry would gain one (or three) additional language sections. Is this a correct assumption? And therefore the reason there is no "Chinese" under the ratings list is because there'd have to be a corresponding "Chinese" section for the casts as well?
As far as the Ratings section is concerned, the difference between a Hong Kong, Taiwan, or Singapore release is minor compared with English or Japanese. For a rater, choosing between English or Japanese in place of Chinese can be a tough choice. Does one choose English to indicate a translated release or Japanese because it's actually a closer translation than English? In any case, both choices are misleading in some respect. So, the next question is, if there isn't going to be a section for "Chinese," is there a preference or should there be a standard for a subsitute choice? |

Isn't it true that there are some anime that have been legitely dubbed to chinese? I believe I think the first season of sailor Moon was dubbed years ago.

All Ghibli's titles licensed by Buena Vista Home Entertainment (Taiwan) have been dubbed in Mandarin, and many anime aired on TV in Taiwan and Hong Kong have been dubbed in Mandarin or Cantonese, respectively, including Sailor Moon. Please refer to posts above for reasons not having Chinese options right now. |
