Black Rock Shooter: The Game is supposed to be released by NISA (along with Imageepoch's other new PSP RPGs), but they've been pretty quiet about it lately.

Also missing from Namco's show: .hack//Link. Guess they aren't willing to take a chance on this considering how poorly it scored in Japan. Too bad, that's no proper way to send off a franchise, time for a proper ending!

Ah Legend of Zelda Ocarina Of Time, I recently bought it for my Wii on the virtual ware and bought it the N64 back in the day as well.

Back in 1998, times were much more simpler and were better to some degree or another. Blu-ray, high definition and the more advanced features of the internet had yet to be created.

But even so, Ocarina of Time remains to be one of the greatest games ever released on the N64. It would have potentially faced competition from the Earthbound re-release on the N64 if it wasn't cancelled several months before it was supposed to be released in USA. But that is a whole another story entirely.

Man to think 13 years have gone by since I first played Legend of Zelda for the N64. Times sure have changed with the series. It used to be that Link could only fight with a sword, bow, or other assorted items, but with what he can do these days is amazing.

Although in the last seventeen years I've played Legend of Zelda game that has ever been released in the US (including the first Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo) Ocarina of time remains to be one of my favorite Zelda games of all time.

Great article Todd, it's been a very long time since I last talked about Ocarina of Time and I am glad Nintendo licensed this game for the 3DS. Although I myself don't have a 3DS (and probably won't get one due to 3D making me dizzy/potentially giving me a headache after a while) it's great that the next generation of gamers will be able to play this game.

I can't wait for the Silent Hill HD collection, though I'm still a little iffy on downpour (I'm sure I'll still getting it though). Shadows of the Damned looks awesome, and it has Akira Yamaoka attached as well. I love how they put "A Suda51 Trip" on the cover Laughing .

One thing I CAN add, is that Atlus gave a definate NO about Growlanser on their forum. A sad thing, yes.

I am very displeased at Sega's handling of Valkyria Chronicles 3 that is they have not done anything with it! Really need that game.

Aww man, I was really looking forward to this dark tale in the story of Valkyria Chronicles, hopefully the planets align somehow in the future to allow this title to come over translated somehow.

FF13 was in largely a failure, yeah, and I too hated the hell out of the game, but the one thing that just about everyone can agree (...just about) on is the tightness of the battle system. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the concept and execution of that game's combat system and there's just really nothing more to it than that. Nothing to argue about, nothing to debate. Going up against the solidity of FF13's battle system is absolutely no different than, say, going up against classic Final Fantasy's. It does what it does, and it does it well.

There's nothing "Well" in having the game be over when your leader dies. It makes no sense in FFXIII, nothing is riding on your leading character being alive when Phoenix Downs are plentiful and fairly inexpensive.
The only reason it was programmed as such was to save a few weeks coding in a swap character in the middle of battle function (or, rather, allow full control of your team from the off, the right answer to this particular problem).

The game is a badly plotted out DND Campain ran by an obnoxious jerk who will rail road you away from all the fun that can be had and forces a set of stupidly defined house rules down your thoat.

The fact that Square (and let's face it, it's only the Square part of Square Enix who thinks they can get away with this) is going out of it's way to cram this God-forsaken game down people's throats a second time with a few proper nowns changed in terms of minor game play mechanics (and not implementing a decent battle system while they're at it) speaks volumes about who really needed the merger between Enix and Square in the first place, and no, it's not the People who made Dragon Quest.

I'm also tired of the complaints by developers who feel spending millions to develop a game is a requirement to screw over gamers with incomplete games, micro-transactions, and other fee-based services just to play their games. No one stated a game had to cost millions to make to be enjoyable.

Just look at Angry Birds, for crying out loud.

This is what happens when there's a false belief graphics make games. It simply isn't true, nor is the horsepower behind them to render the pretty visuals. Granted, they look nice, but all the beauty in the world means crap unless there's a play mechanic behind it.

Yes, I'm looking at you, Square-Enix, whose approach to gaming is now play for 5 seconds, watch a video clip for 20 minutes, and repeat. Wait. Square-Enix isn't the only developer doing this.

Now, we're looking at reduced play time to complete games, which I'm actually onboard with as to reduce the constant repetition most games deliver for 25+ hours. However, the trade-off in price isn't being offered, and I've a problem with that.

Recently, both Ars and Cracked did write-ups on the gaming industry, and it's good to know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

So, Todd, hang in there. Now that the iPad (and its clones/competitors) are stealing gaming thunder, perhaps this will be the wake up call console developers need to realize it's not about power or sequels.

Either that, or they'll ditch the console world altogether because it's just easier to build in Flash.

Sorry for the long-winded post, but I feel pity on gamers today. As Teriyaki Terrier stated: it was simpler back then and he's right.

I vote we go back.

You're leaving out that, yes, you lose the battle if your main character dies, but if that happens you can restart the battle from the beginning with no penalty. Hell, you can also "restart" a battle right in the middle of it, to right before you ran into the enemy on the field. Letting you switch characters, change paradigms/equips, or even just avoid the enemy. Also, free after battle healing.

I wish to freaking god that you could do all that in Persona 3 (or 4, or Nocturne, or hell every game ever)

Given that I liked FF XIII I am looking forward to FF XIII-2. I didn't think FF XIII wasn't that bad of a game.

I am happy to hear about Metal Gear Solid getting the HD treatment, but I wish the first game was given a HD remake as well.
