This is my thought exactly! Bones almost never disappoints me. Even if the series is not great it's at least entertaining to watch. I'm literally just falling asleep watching the show. My expectations were so much higher and every week I watch the show I find my self skipping more and more wishing it just would not drag on so much.

Each week?

I'm a Bones fan. I enjoyed Soul Eater, even though the second season was BS. I enjoyed Eureka Seven, even though the plot was BS. I very much enjoyed Brotherhood, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Darker Than Black... While I haven't watched the half of their shows, for me, Bones always manage to deliver relatively good entertainment, if you're not too picky. It's the kind of shows that you just go along with, even if you're not particularly interested. But I found myself surprises when I was falling asleep half-way through Gosick's first episode. I can't really put my finger on it, but it was just so uninteresting... And I gave up at the end of the episode, never again to watch another episode again until I have watched every other series I want to watch.

I'm surprises you, and other people who don't particularly like the show, are suffering through it all the same, as if just for the sake of it. Why?

I guess I just want it to be better then it probably should be. I just have a feeling it should be better but that does not seem to be happening. I have not watched the series and a month and I'm on the verge of dropping it. I bought a ton of anime in the last week that I have much better shows that I would rather watch.

Also it's not that I don't like the show its better then the majority of the stuff I've seen out this season but it's just lacking in anything that entertains me. I really loved the 1st 4 episodes but have fallen far from that since then.

? People were expectng more from this series, I don't know this has pretty much kept up with what I was expecting. Actually to be honest going into this I expected 20 minutes of boring Sherlock Holmes rip off with gimicky blonde gothic lolita loli, but I expectations changed a bit to a more corect view upon watching. I for one am a lot mroe intersted in Victorique then I expected I would, though it does get a bit annoying when they try to push it.

And Grevil although not a lot shown, he seems interesting enough, kind of like the usual side of him we see is, I was going "poor Grevil" at the end. It is kind of confusing what he actually thinks of his sister, in the past she really was reminicent of the story of the fairy in the tower.

The mystery this week was not suposed to be difficult, for one spoiler[the wife/husband is usualy the first suspect] anyway, I think it was more of how childplay it was for her. And about the Q-chan thing, may there be some conection to Grevil was calling the guy little chipmunk or what ever it was.

I'll keep it short...

We're almost halfway into this thing and we're finally getting a look at Victorique. That's the best part so far.

I was really hoping for more difficult mysteries to solve and more complex ones than what we've seen. Although, I think all these smaller mysteries are just allowing Victorique to show the viewer that she really is something amazing when it comes to solving mysteries and that other people in her area just don't compare - even her own brother who is a detective.

In that respect, I've been able to cope with the disappointing side stories. Yes, I'm calling them side stories for now because, so far, they don't really relate the overall story in a significant way. It would be interesting if they all do come together in the end.

I like the characters, somewhat, but I just feel like these stereotypes have been a bit overdone over the past few years. But it's not really bothering me.

The sad part is that there isn't really anything great about this series yet. There's a little bit of humor, some cute remarks, and some delightful moments, but I'm just interested in the conclusion at this point. I completely forgot this was slated for more than 12 episodes and was really bummed that it wouldn't be ending soon.

I have a feeling the latter portion will either really pick up or will drag even more.

Thought episode 11 was the best yet. It was nice to get a little more info on why Grevil's hair is the way it is and get a little more depth on Grevil himself. That said, his conversation with Victorique towards the end really left me wishing Kujo had stayed in the room to knock him on his ass.

In my experience, very few series get better as they go. They all tend to go downhill, whether short or long, whether good or bad, whether high budget or not. There are a few notable exceptions, it must be said (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Bamboo Blade, Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, School Rumble...) There's quite a few of them, now that I think of it, but series that go downhill are way easier to think off: Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Darker than Black, Soul Eater, all Bones, then you have Tsubasa Chronicle, Toradora!, Ergo Proxy, Death Note, even the greats, Bakemonogatari, Black Lagoon, Planetes, Rurouni Kenshin, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, and the obvious, GTO, Highschool of the Dead, Shakugan no Shana...

Still, I have yet to find a series that I forced myself into watching and ended up enjoying, except for Bamboo Blade. Then again, I have watched quite a few first episodes, never to pick their series up again. Generally speaking, if it doesn't grab you at first, it won't grab you later. They won't, they simply won't do it to the fans of the first episode, and there's also the fact that they often put loads of effort into the first episode. Precisely, to grab audience ASAP.

You didn't even bother attempting to put some of your opinion aside when you made that list, did you? Yes, I completely disagree with most of it.

Which is irrelevant. When did Gosick became worse? We've already seen half of it, surely your theory should have come into effect already, rather than having the show present us with one of the best episodes. It's been pretty stable from the beginning, and anyone who enjoyed it from the beginning will most likely reconfirm.

That's certainly my experience, egoist. I've enjoyed this show from the beginning and continue to do so. Maybe part of that was that I had no expectation of truly complicated mysteries and whatnot. I'm just enjoying the purty piktures and Victorique and Baby Squirrel's relationship.

I'll agree with your logic that usually not a lot of shows get better as they go on or at least that's what comes to mind right now, but I'm kind of surprised at these 3 shows you listed. Bakemonogatari and GTO got worse as they went on? That's news to me I guess... the only explaination I can think of for GTO spoiler[was how the anime ended] As for High School of the Dead I thought it was pretty much the samething as it went on, but hey that's me Very Happy. Everyone has their opinions, those 3 shows just caught me by surprise. I thought they were pretty much the same throughout.

Episode 12. I like where this is going.

At the risk of writing a spoiler I know some are going to be disappointed at the apparent lack of ghosts wafting up from the sewer or evil spirits of the undead failing to suck human blood. With a bit of filling in, Kujo and Victorique have a good chance of being one of anime's great pairings.

Only real question is how can someone not know that Victorique is a girl's name?

My only guess is that she thought Kujo was mispronouncing Victor, that or she just couldn't believe that another girl would be interested in "this strange foreigner".

Perhaps she misheard it as Victor?

Having just seen Episode 18, I am beginning to wonder if this is one of the more underrated series of the current season.

It is odd to me, because in each episode i can think of a lot of things I don't like about the episode and the overall story. Yet somehow the sum ends up greater than the parts, and I want to see what happens with Victorique next.

Someone who has spoiler[never fired a gun before hits a matchbook sized target from a moving train with one shot.] Yeah, right. But for some reason that doesn't matter.

I was not under the impression that spoiler[our hero had never fired a gun before, and that would seem strange given his family background], but otherwise I agree with you. For the last few episodes, as indications of a greater plot have come out, my evaluation of the show has been steady improving. It's already one of the best shows of the year on visuals and is starting to climb on story, too.
