Ah Whisper of the Heart, one of Ghibli's best films. (Compared to Tales of Earthsea which i rented yesterday, what a snooze fest) I really hope the original dvd release over here in the states has sold well, I would love to buy this film on Blu ray, that would be a pleasant treat!

I don't think I'm going to wait for the domestic release for this one.

This would make me finally buy a blu-ray player. It's my favorite film from Ghibli, and I've rewatched it a bunch of times before.

This is one of those animes you can show to people who are skeptical. It really transcends the medium. Even some Ghibli stuff does not fit into that category. Even though they have all seen quality treatment.
Go Mr.Lasseter, the men has been instrumental in these releases over the years.

I probably can't justify the cost of importing, but (like Juhachi) this is the one film whose domestic blu-ray release would prompt me finally to get a player.
I don't think we'll see its likes again from Ghibli.

While this sounds like an amazing release... I don't own a Blu-ray player, and don't intend on buying one anytime soon.

one of my favorite ghibli films. however, north american disney releases are expensive enough; there's no way i can justify the cost of importing.

I can wait for a domestic release. I spent $80 ish on both Char's Counterattack, and the Cowboy Bebop Movie (on Blu-Ray), and I've sort of regretted it ever since. Still though, those didn't have subs, so there was the extra work of having to sync a subtitle track to the video in my player every time I want to watch the movie.
Meh, it will be > $30 whenever it gets here, so I can wait. It may be a long wait considering that the popular Ghibli movies aren't even out here on BR yet, but I have patience (and fiscal responsibility).

That's surprising. The JP BD release for Arietty is at the same time, so I was expecting them to release Totoro along with it since it should be next in line as far as Miyazaki's films go (they released Nausicaa, then Laputa and the Yamadas).
At the rate they're going it's going to take about a decade to have all their films available on BD. One or two every six months.

If "here" is N. America, Nausicaa BR just came out to be had for around $25.
