I bought RahXephon's Grand Canon Boxset some time ago, and I am loving this show. However, I heard that there were booklets in the singles and a beautiful artbox for the movie that included an even larger booklet. So, would these booklets be of any use in understanding the show (especially any symbolism and connections to... well, whatever it connects to)? Would it be better to just get the booklet from the movie's artbox and not buy the TV show singles? And if the booklet(s) are worth it, then why?

(Also, would it be beneficial to get the Evangelion booklets too, or should I just go with the thinpak/tin/holiday edition?)

I bought all the singles when they first came out, and only recently was able to pick up the artbook with the extra booklet.

I REALLY like them! The front/back cover is transparent, with a picture underlaying it on every one. There's episode synopsises, artwork of characters, dolems, etc, and interviews with the Japanese voice actors, producters, etc. The extra one that comes with the artbook is a little more hefty, with more artwork, definitions, and lots more!

I'm really into extras like that, so for someone like me, I was happy to obtain them all Smile

So you're saying that it's worth getting all of the booklets... Hm. When you say that there is even more artwork in the hefty booklet, do you mean more production sketches or more promotional images/really pretty pictures? To be honest, I'm much more interested in the latter. Production sketches are just... sketches (and they're part of the extras on the DVD too). Razz

You can find some of what you're looking for in the Rahxephon Bible which ADV released here around the same time as the anime. Right Stuf doesn't seem to have it (I think I remember it being a bargain bin title for awhile), but here's a link to it on amazon.

Oh! Well that sure is a lovely surprise. Thanks a lot, Sheleigha and larinon. (I'm still getting that pretty artbox. Gyu-hu-hu-huhuhu...)

A random site I found, that gives you a sample of the first page (and how it has a pic, but is also see-through) and the next couple pages being character pics + profiles. The single DVD booklets aren`t too big (after characters, it`s just an interview or two, and talk about cultural definitions from the episodes shown).

While the artbook is also an awesome choice of course (I forget all about it!) and you`re still wanting some of these insert booklets, I`d reccommend the one from the boxset and the one from the movie. Both are alot more hefty with more pics and info and such.
