Actually I thought that there is some minor supernatural themes, mostly in the form of predictions. Those guys did not use the kids as a way to decide which nations they would suport to win the war, it was done so that they could figure out what would be the winning countires and they could put themselves on the winning sides.

Also I thought that some stories had predicted what events would hapen, like spoiler[the golden Fairy story was a prediction of Victorique, possibly the reaper although possibly dissproved in recent episode, but likely also the headless rider.] I am also guessing that the talking wolf will also come into play, Kuji said that he would like to meet this wolf, but I was thinking that this wolf might be a bad guy.

Although I don't think there is much supernatural in terms of Victorique's ability and I don't think we will see any ghosts.

Episode 6 is now up. While I haven't found this series in general to be especially strong, this is the best episode yet. Clearly it's setting itself up for another one of its mysteries, yet the personal aspect of it for Victorique makes it more compelling. spoiler[The nun popping up again later in the episode also assures that the first part wasn't as simple as it initially appeared], and I liked that touch.

And my, if Victorique didn't look almost obscenely cute when she got teary-eyed! The producers certainly know how to play to an audience.

I've got the same feeling about the nun. If I had to guess I would think from the way she kept looking at victorique that spoiler[she has something to do with the person who was murdered, either she actually did it and Cordelia took the blame, or she was the wife, daughter, sister, friend or some other relation to whomever was murdered.]

This episode felt a bit slow, so it might be a 'long' arc (maybe 4 episodes at least?), and it has to do with Victorique's past. It's setting itself up for the arc as Key had said. I'm curious about this arc, so the mysteries are still drawing me in. And the nun is suspicious I must say, spoiler[I'm wondering why she even stole the plate, how she plays a role in this, and the magician seems something of significance. He was in the OP for those who did not notice.]

Oh, the teary-eye Victorique, she has captured my heart. It made me go HNNNNNNNNNNGGGG! To the producers: Stop playing with my heart!

It won't be there for too long. I'll remove as soon as I feel like it, and put back again when the show finishes airing in Japan.

Oh OK. Never seen it phrased that way before. Eh learned something new.

One thing that confused me: I thought the nun was the one selling the Dresden plate - if so, why would she steal something she already owned?

And yes, my stony dark heart melted at Viktorehkah's (hey, may as well spell it like it's being pronounced) tears, too. Bad baby squirrel - bad!

Personally I found the way the main characters were acting rather weird and inconsistent this episode. Kuji not making more of a fuss about having his books stolen. Grevil being fooled by a turban (he's not the sharpest guy but that's just weak) and the entire fight over the headflick was strange, from the fact that it makes no sense that Kuji would do it in the first place to all of the reactions to it. then there were the magically appearing and disappearing cavities and other forced reasons for wacky cute squabbling and pouting. Not that I dislike Victorique cuteness but all of it felt forced this time.

If she's really a nun then she was most likely manning the stall for her church/abbey or whatever and was stealing it from them. She said she was "bawled out" for it on the train. I'd guess she secretly sold the plate to get her traveling money- As I understand it, nuns aren't supposed to have their own money if they're part of a convent or church

This show... it's not really that good. Kujo is far too dense and Victorique is too detached. The drama is too frequently overblown so that I'm laughing more at this show than some comedies I usually watch (for instance, psycho maid constantly trying to claw her own eyes out). The exposition often seems to skip over various details, like who those other three men who are also visiting the town are (they seem at least somewhat important, otherwise spoiler[why would someone be methodically killing them off], or how exactly the townspeople determined that Coredelia was the culprit. Did I miss a scene somewhere? A maid went in to check on the Elder, discovers he's dead, and, bam, Cordelia's guilty. I don't remember them even mentioning she was there, and her house seemed to be at the very edge of town, while the mansion was rather central. Can't this show even bother to explain why the lead female's mother was the primary suspect of a murder while she was still a teenager?
And then there's the current elder, who I have to believe is the mastermind, because the alternative is that he is a complete moron or willfully ignorant. spoiler[Yes, Alan was planning to ruin your ceremony by imitating something everyone knew you were going to immolate.]

I really want to like this show, but they're making it so hard to do.

Wow, you pretty much summed up my feelings about the show perfectly. I thought I was the only one who felt that way. That said, they actually did explain why they thought Cordelia was guilty. spoiler[Many including the current Elder actually saw her enter the house and later leave screaming. The Elder went inside to find the past Elder dead, or at least that is what he claimed.]

Okay, I apparently missed seeing/hearing the name when they had that line of dialogue. spoiler[That still seems a moronic basis for conviction, as that action seems more consistent with one who randomly discovered a body than one who committed the murder.]

It was probably my mood when I was watching this episode, but I didn't find it as entertaining as the others. The mysteries aren't really working out for me, and the only thing I find great is the character developments. I feel like I'm growing detached from this show. I think Dorcas_Aurelia summed up how I felt about this episode. And the 3 male characters, whose names I forgot, spoiler[dying (2 of them did so far)] felt rather stupid...

Not a very strong week. Almost everything I'm following had a weak episode... IS, Freezing, Gosick, Yukemui Merry, Fractale, Madoka, Index, Kore wa, Level E(primarily). If anything did have a better episode, that was Dragon Crisis which introduced the character I was waiting for.

Anyway, I'm not exactly getting along with this arc. Because it's dealing with Victorique's mom, the amount of character interaction decreased, and we hardly get Victorique with her weird yet cute behavior. As for the mystery... it's been on the same level since the beginning (maybe a bit stronger now).

I thought that was meant to be an act... implying that she is one of the culprits. Perhaps I'm just overestimating Bones, and they do play retarded psychos.

I kinda read the crazy maid girl as having a mental break because she had witnessed what actually happened but was forced to go along with the official story and might have lived with guilt.[/spoiler]

Wasn't the maid actually spoiler[feeling guilty about her testimony being used to convict Cordelia, and over the years she has been told that Cordelia is wicked and such. But she revealed that she actually belives that Cordelia is innocent as the dagger was placed too high, and over the years the guilt has been eating her up.]

Someone manipulated it so spoiler[that the current elder would get into power. And I would guess the current situation might be that someone wants to eliminate decendants who left the town.]
