The show is about on the same level it was for me with its last episode. Decent so far, but nothing great. I do like Victorique and Kujo's relationship, and this latest episode pushed Kujo up a bit in my eyes, but the mysteries themselves aren't doing it for me yet. Right now this show is probably just outside of my top five.

Got a question if anyone can answer it.

The hares that were said to survive were from the nations of spoiler[Italy, America, France, and Saubure (along with England the "hunting dog")].

Does the maid look like any of those nationalities?

Cause she looks Arabic. And I didn't hear that an Arabic country survived. What gives? Just because it blows away the spoiler[winners of WWI prophecy-thing] doesn't mean that her country shouldn't be listed as surviving. Actually, if she was supposed to represent Turkey or the Ottoman Empire, then that would just be plain wrong, since everyone knows that they were part of the Axis side... and yeah... they lost.

Blegh.

It doesn't help that these three episodes butchered the first novel.

Here's how it happened in the book:

Ree (the Arabic maid, though they translated her name as Lee in the anime) was unconscious and being carried by Julie when the children arrived at the radio room. One of the men in the radio room kicked Ree and she never moved, thus they assumed she was dead, so when they pronounced the nationalities of the survivors, they never considered Ree's home country.

And this quote from the book shows how the prophecy came true regarding Ree and her country, the Ottoman Empire: "The Ottoman Empire was dragged into the war, lost most of its leaders, and emerged barely alive."

Thanks for that. Does the book also explain how the other people (besides Ned, and Victorique/Kujo who were there in place of Roxanna) were related to the Queen Berry incident from 10 years prior?

Cause it would have made a lot more sense if she got revenge on Ned, Roxanna, and then all those older military dudes/world leaders that were clapping at the end. But most of the others didn't look nearly as old as they should of been if she were getting proper revenge.

The great thing about mysteries like this is being able to try and gather the evidence and figure it out, and those little moments you thought were not important turning out to be a clue. The third episode really brought the arc up to being able to fit into place, I am going to have higher expectations now.

@ Megiddo - Isn't that what hapend, especially of note was the suposed police inspector being right in the front. the rest were pretty old right, but 10 years wouldn't have too much of an effect.

Kind of sad that she only really killed one person via a door with a trap, the other two being in self defence or saving Kujo/Victorique. The people really deserved it anyway and was more karmic more then anything.

Julie invited all of the people that orchestrated the incident on the original Queen Berry, and she invited Ned, since she was able to find him and because he was the hunting dog. She also tried to contact the other surviving children, but one of them committed suicide, one of them was serving a life sentence in prison, and she never figured out what happened to Ree — she still thought she was dead.

This show's definitely in the top 3 of this season for me. Right up there with Fractale and Kimi ni Todoke Season 2. Even though I already had a known(they're siblings) or guessed at(those 2 were hares from 10 years ago) what was going to happen in episode 3, it the episode was still very fun. Nice to Kujo pick up some brass knuckles and protect his third son honor. Victorique was adorable as usual, and the chemistry between the two seems to be picking up nicely. The girl whose coming next episode may get in the way though.

I'm also a bit confused - if our sexy lady friend spoiler[rebuilt the ship in order to take revenge and she knew the "Hunting Dog"'s trick and temperament , why was it up to Victorique to tell her it was a trick and to run? Really, why didn't she just off the guy when he suggested she throw her weapon?]

Well, from what I gathered, spoiler[she had no ill will towards either Kujo or Victorique. As we know, they weren't supposed to be there: it was supposed to be Madame Roxanne. I'm guessing she wanted to avoid doing anything that would arouse their suspicion, since she didn't want to end up having to kill them.]

Interesting mystery this episode, though the beginning one was fairly easy for me to figure out. The one with spoiler[the knight corpse was pretty interesting. I'm looking for the arc about Avril, too. Her hand being wrapped in clothes makes her suspicious.] I'm liking how the show gives us different clues, such as the flowers. Interesting mysteries indeed.

Oh, Victorique is just too cute! My teenage heart cannot take anymore of this this! I can't decide who's my favorite character of this season... Nessa or Victorique?!

And really made the inspector look like an imbecile Rolling Eyes . But, to be fair, spoiler[I guess he was mainly just acting on being pissed off at Kujo for nearly blabbing his secret of success to the rest of his precinct.]

But whatever, this show is still pretty damn entertaining.

Marathoned the first three episodes last night and this show shot up to being my absolute favorite of the season, with Mitsudomoe Zoryouchuu being second and... I'm not sure that I have a third yet, Fractale still needs some time to get going along.

The bright side is that, albeit there are not an immense amount of shows I'm interested in this season, at least the few I am interested in seem to be the strongest and Gosick is just the right amount of mystery and suspense with the clean cut visuals I expect from BONES, being a nice contrast to their still well animated but much more relaxed and loosely handled art style for Star Driver, which I am seriously behind on... By about 13-14 episodes.

It's got a lot of promise riding on it and as long as it isn't as overly 'realistic' in terms of where the style of the show is near the end, I'll be happy.

spoiler[That is to say, something supernatural better actually be 'real' in the end or I'm going to be sorely disappointed. The OP seems to imply a lot and I've got my own thoughts/ideas/theories about Victorique and Kazuya and their purpose in the plot aside from the basic Sherlock and Watson roles they seem to be filling atm. Basically, I'm really looking forward to reaching the halfway point and seeing 'sh!t get real' so to speak.]

Well, that was a suprising mystery. I didn't expect these twists to happen. I'm loving these allusions to books, and it makes me quite interested in reading them, if they are real.

And I just had to go "Awww" during the scene where Victorique spoiler[drops the books on the fake Avril] because it explored Victorique and Kujo's relationship. Though, it seems like Victorique is "not honest" with herself about Kujo. But, to be honest, I thought this mystery didn't match up to the previous one. I will forgive it though since it was used to reveal the new character Avril.

Oh, Goth In A Cupboard, anyone?

Haven't been disappointed in an episode yet. Victorique was just so darn cute when she was hiding her face in that book and admitting she hides in the cupboard if people she doesn't know come in.

Just want to say that this has become my favorite show this season. Even though it seems that it might get a bit repetitive with the mystery-a-day format (well... each mystery has lasted 2 episodes), the characters are all interesting. You know you've discovered a classic when you find your own thoughts tumbling in your head whether Victorique could be a real person or just someone in Kujou's imagination (or maybe a ghost). That's an effect no ordinary anime could give, so they really put a lot into producing a great series.

For whatever reason I found episode 4 boring. The characters seemed to just annoy me and get on my nerve a lot this episode. Maybe it's just me.
